How to keep cuts of plants that you like

Hello everyone.
I'm sure this has been posted numerous times. I did not go on a massive search so I'm hoping we can help everyone out with the following question:

If you are growing from seed (reg or fem), how does one know that a plant is worth keeping and taking cuts from, without going into flower?
Should you flower to a certain point, take cuts, and re-veg?
Should you make a determination at the time of light flip from veg to flower?
Should you take cuts in veg, basing your decision solely on the way it grows in veg mode?

Any and all help is always greatly appreciated!!

I’d either take a cut and flower the cut out, or take a cut and keep the cut for the mother.

+1 take a couple cuts and flip the plant. Make one of the cuts the mother if it ends up impressing you

Yeah take cuts of each AND LABEL THEM... then flower the originals, harvest, dry, smoke, then select the best pheno to then be the mother.

It's up to you at that point if you want to take cuts and use those cuts for your next flower cycle- keeping their mother in veg

Or

Take cuts from the best pheno to become your new mothers and flower out all of the first round clones since they'll be 8-10 weeks into veg and ready to flower.
