Hydroton..in pantyhose, hanging in dwc?

I'm thinking of trying this. Hang a pantyhose sock from the netpot. Fill it with hydroton and see if the mycorrhizae colonize it....

I am confused what is the purpose?

In dwc or rdwc there's no medium for the mycorrhizae to colonize. I was thinking a sack of hydroton and roots.

You want them on your roots not just free in the system. They help by increasing root mass not by a positive impact they make on the water or something like that.

It would work fine for bacteria tho.
