There are many ways to skin the drying/curing cat. I don't have great conditions, temp about 72, rh about 45-55. What works for me is to hang them for 4-7 days, then trim and jar them, usually the RH in the jars is in the high 70's-low 80's, I leave the top off the jars for a couple more days which usually brings the rh down to about 70ish. then I close the lids up and over the next couple weeks I'll "burp" the jars a couple times a day and if needed leave the lid off for an hour or two, I also empty and repack the jars for more even drying. Once the RH hits about 60-62 throw in a boveda and seal em up. The longer the drying takes the more taste you'll get. Curing effectively stops once the RH gets below around 55%. The hay (cut grass) smell is the chlorophyll, a proper cure will eliminate the hay smell by allowing the chlorophyll to break down and release Nitrogen. Burping releases the built up N, and allows O2 into the jar which aids inthe breakdown of chlorophyll. Once the cure is complete, O2 is no longer your friend, so seal em up and store in a cool, dark, dry place!!!

Ok so just so I'm clear when drying keep humidity high and bring down gradually between 60 and 65 humidity (don't go below 60) and 71 degrees is ok if that's the lowest I can get??? Correct

Correct. 60-70°F is fine. One degree won't make a difference as long as you will keep proper airflow in area
I am sure it will taste better properly cured. Had once weed that started to taste more or less acceptable after 3,5 months plus in cure. Before that it was unsmokable. I don't remember what it was 🤣 so yeah- travel in seeds- there's right now all kinds of flavours- including ones that taste like pies 🤟

Yea that cure and dry seems to be my issue .... Cuz I never jarred and the humidity was above 60 everytime I finished drying and put in the jar 55 to 58 humidity.... And it's always been 10 day dry when a lot of stems start to snap

You put the cannabis in way too wet.

A an almost perfect dry will show 60-62% in the jar after 48hrs. Barely requires “burping”.

Most of dry and cure is to retain flavor profiles. Most of those flavor profiles come in the form of terpenes. Terpenes form and are stored all over the plant but mostly in the trichomes. Terpenes are Volatile Organic Compounds. The most sensitive of them starts to evaporate at around 70°.

The hay smell comes from the water not the drying process.
Let your water sit 24 hrs before using then you’ll get no more hay smell
So it's from not letting your water sit for 24 hrs and then flushing them ... I thought it was because it drys too fast and the chlorophyll gets locked in there ?
