id love to be able to do an outdoor grow , cant legally do it where i live . here in ohio it cant be visible to others and i cant do that . anyone driving down my road could see what I'm up to at a glance .

indoors threw the winter i keep my thermostat at 60f once outside temps drop consistently below freezing so i can buy groceries and pay the electric bill , while i am comfy enough with thick socks and a sweater , i cant even keep houseplants going past January .
adding in a light , let alone one that will provide enough heat stretches things beyond what my pocket will allow without missing meals
I have a whole thread on here about growing in my unheated garage over the winter, temps in the tent dropped into the low 40s when light were out, weed still came out great, just grew a little slower. If you want to give it a shot hit me up in the dms. I can help you out

i completely understand your situation as i am on a fixed income which only affords me the ability to rent a room as opposed to an apartment or house. i had grown a couple times sprodically decades ago and was finally at a place in a state where i could grow legally. my main focus is caring for the plants as best as possible while spending as little on supplies as possible. my initial grow here was done with regular back yard soil and some generic compost i bought. the lights i used were inexpensive. i was very happy with how things went until i had to cut the 1st grow early do to issues with the people i was renting from at that time.

the way i figure it is any light is better than no light. i prefer using seeds i have aquired from the dispensary weed i bought for years when i had the funds. i also prefer to see a few male flowers so i can replenish my seed stock. if you like you can look up my grow diary thread to see what i was able to produce. personally i am happier to get a mildly herm plant as opposed to a male or heavy herm as it still allows me to get a good deal of bud. as long as i don't miss any male flowers i can prevent unwanted pollination.

the initial pic of your herm plant is definitely something i would have eliminated. that being said my entire 1st grow here was all disp weed seeds. 2 were mild herm and 1 was male. i eliminated the male and removed the few male flowers from the herm plants and used it to produce a few seeds. the 2nd grow although abused by me all were female (3 of the plants were from the seeds i produced from the last grow) and produced some decent bud. cut 2 of them down a couple days ago so the real test of smoking them will be a little while longer.

all in all the way i see it is cannabis is a weed so it tends to grow itself given enough chance. i think it's still possible to produce at least some decent bud potentially.

one grow doesn't mean the results will be the same next time and even on a very tight budget it will still be possible to at some point get some decent results even from unknown seeds. while having the place warm enough to allow plant growth is neccessary once the spring comes back around it would allow for another shot at it. i'm gonna follow you as i am interested in seeing what your able to do. i'm looking forward to seeing some fine bud coming from you...

i apologize for not responding sooner , i turned my internet and a few other things off for awhile to save a few bucks for the holidays .

thanks to member here i have a nice little selection of seeds for another try this spring . hoping for a mid to late march start . but that will depend on how much winter beats me up on my heating bills . its been rather cold the last few weeks so fingers crossed the next 2 months some global warming kicks in . thermostat is set at 60 so mother natures in charge for now

after reading dreamnfox's thread and seeing how well the grow went in colder temps ive decided to try my luck a little sooner then planned and go for a march 1st start .
this whole living in a legal state and not having anything to smoke is getting to me ....

no real plan yet but with no budget to spend that shouldn't be an obstacle . the goal will be to shove 3 plants in my 2x4 tent again re-using the soil from the last attempt and ill stick w the strive nutes without any ph'ing .
only thing id like to pick up is a seed mat if i can find one locally just to make life a little simpler .

long as i can keep the spending near zero i should be able to afford the electric with out any problems ... ive been rather frugal the last few months to make that a non issue .

You just were unlucky and when it comes to the seeds its better not to risk it with unkown seeds, youre spending time and resources, there are cheap seeds available that while are not great they wont herm on you most likely, you dont need to buy expensive seeds. About my set up:
Tent: 3x3x6 feet (75 euros)
Fans: 150mm intraction fan (20 euros), 100mm double extraction fan (40 euros)
Extras: Thermohygrometer with probe (10 euros), clip fan to move air inside (12 euros)
Lights: 2x Niello (Chinese generic brand) 130W LED Full Spectrum with IR and UV (65 euros each, so 130 euros).
What Ive been able to accomplish with that, some examples:

I dont understand the context of the joke to my post but its funny, specially considering that I have mental dissorders šŸ¤£ but I do not wet trimm! Those leaves are gonna cure nicely with the buds and then are gonna go to the kief shaker šŸ˜ Big leaves with 0 tricomes I do usually cut unless they go in the drying mesh in which case helps so the buds dont touch the mesh, they get stuck to it if you dont move them from time to time hahaha.

I showed you my cheap tent set up. I thought I didnt have pictures from my cardboard set up but I do! I highly recommend avoiding cardboard its just to show that you can find ways, I had to cover everything with tape so it was waterproof and then add tinfoil paper for more light efficiency. That set up was around... 50 euros for the lights, the pots and the substrate. Flowering in the back with a flowering bar, vegging in the front with a cool white LED. Small autos, I think those were blueberries.

This one was grown in the cardboard indoor even though by that point I upgraded my lights to x2 75W LEDs and it showed in the buds. I was using x2 37W LED bars in the first picture. To the left is my homemade cardboard box for drying with cords inside to hang the stems. And those are all the pictures I could find hahaha.
