We still used candescent bulbs when I grew indoors, and dissipating the heat was a big deal. It isn't easy to wrap my head around this new technology. Hopefully everyone will overlook my learning curve while I adjust to the twenty-first century. I got excited a few weeks ago when I found a seed in my purchase from a dispensary, planted it in a cup of soil, and it came up, but I have no lighting. So I've got a long way to go.

I am looking forward to diving in. And who knows, maybe an old guy like me might have something to contribute back.

Welcome!!!
Do you have plans of getting a grow tent or do you have a dedicated room or closet to use?
If you're growing indoors, lighting is something you definitely need. LED is the way to go IMO.
Depending on the size space you are going to want to grow in will dictate what size light to buy.
If you've thought about any of the details of your grow space and would like to share with us, you will get tons of recommendations for good equipment.

You definitely came to the right place, I learn more and more everyday and the members here are very helpful and fun!

What strain did you find the seed in?

Thank you! I'm pretty sure the seed is from Bonsai Guava Melt. Yes, like back in the nineties, I grew horizontally in an extremely tight spot in an attic (in a custom-built box). A decade later, I have a room inside the house to dedicate. I just noticed on this site that you can buy seeds. Man, that's a game-changer. Back then, I ordered seeds from Canada in cash via the postal service!

Awesome you have a dedicated room! What size?

If you're in the USA, check out North Atlantic Seed Co. They are located in Maine, freebies with every order!

Also checkout Tenguseedco, they're located right on the classifieds on this forum!
Strains are shown on the first post of the thread.
The thread has a bunch of pics from the breeder as well as members that have grown his seeds, including me!

Here's links to both North Atlantic Seed Co and the Tenguseedco thread

Welcome!! Here in the cold of fall and winter, I miss the heat of those old 1000 watt HID bulbs. But you’ll love the new LEDs and they do run cool. Be careful when you shop for an LED…..a lot of cheap lights misrepresent their power so I’d recommend sticking to trusted brand names. A few I would consider if I were in the market would include ViparSpectra, spider Farmer, AC Infinity, Migro, or possibly Mars Hydro.

Best of luck with your grow.

Get a small tent. You’ll have a blast. I really like acinfinity. They have a small ion board it’s about a 100 bucks another 120 for a in-line fan another 120 for a tent 50 for a fan. You’ll be in business. Then you’ll expand next thing you know you’ll have three tents going year round. Just remember pot is not addictive but growing it is.

where are you located i have some lights that i am not using. Edit: I also have a 32"x32"x64" tent with a AC infinity 4" inline exhaust fan I am not using. I bought these in 2022 and i used it for 1 grow, and bought a bigger tent and a different light.

Welcome! Sounds familiar. Technically, my first grow was a closet/flourescent set up I attempted with my brother. Emphasis on attempted. Lol Spindly, stretchy and never made it to flower. Many years in between grows and each time it was a whole new ballgame. Things have gone from extremely limited options to almost too many. So I feel ya, man. Lots of knowledge around here to help you along. 👍
