I once had a good friend that would grow illegally in his closet and every Friday the guys would come over to my house to sit around, smoke, and play cards. If nothing else, you could count on him to bring this, almost as small as a toothpick and rolled tight with a dollar bill, joint and share it with us. Man... it was always so smooth and sweet. This guy really cared about his cure. His strain of choice was always Northern Lights. He said he perfected a manifolding technique that was the only way to grow. I haven't gotten that far yet. But, I have tried to grow northern lights on many occasions and have yet to nail that one down inside. Hats off to him. His was the best.
About a year or so before we moved to a legal state, this guy's heart up and stops on him. Since then, I have always and will always grow some northern lights in his honor. And...I really love a solid indica. That one gets real close to being pure.
Contrary to what I keep reading, sativa anything has never helped with my anxiety. Actually, they almost always make it worse. Some just give me head pressure. Some bring in full blown panic attacks. I grew a purple haze, once... WOW!!! Two hits and I was burning every bit of indica I could find for hours. Just to keep that edge off.
About a year ago, I made the mistake of letting my "Dr" start changing my medicines up and that is a ride that I hope no one has to ride. We tried several different ones over the course of several months. I couldn't smoke anything but purple kush and when they ran out of that at the dispensary, I was almost devastated. I didn't know what to do. That's all I could tolerate for the last couple of months or so. Then, I noticed a jar of donny burger sitting on the shelf. I already had a seed of it from in house genetics growing in my tent. I thought I should at least try some before I spend too much time growing it. Turned out that I could also tolerate it. I couldn't smoke as much, but enough to keep the edge off every day. And it carried all the way back to me begging that "Dr" to just put me back on what I was on with a lower dose. Everything got way better, after that. If it wasn't for purple kush and donny burger, it would have been a much rougher ride.
That don't burger plant turned out to be a male. They were regular seeds. That inspired me to explore the world of breeding. I mean... I have this female northern lights already flowering and now this male donny burger. Both strains mean an awful lot to me. Why not see what happens when I mix the two.
The very first and only seed I pop from that experiment happens to be a very vigorous plant. It fills back in after pruning and topping almost over night. It gets taller than clones twice its age. I'm convinced it's going to be a male, but haven't been able to spot them until it becomes obvious to everyone. So, I cut 4 clones and send it to the flower tent.
Female?
I couldn't believe it. Up to this point she has done amazing. I'm glad I had 4 clones.
I ended up with about 4 ounces. I'm still shooting for quality over quantity.
Everyone I let smoke some was given a chance to vote on what we call it. After several rounds, we dubbed it Donny's Night Light. I enjoyed the heavy indica buzz so much, I smoked it all. Lol. We almost called it something like couch lock classic. Lol
That brings me to what's going on in my flower tent. These are the 4 clones. The 3 in the back seem to be happy. The one up front has been treated with a silver solution. It has developed pollen sacks everywhere I expected. I will be pollinating the other 3 with that pollen. I should now have that strain, medicine, for the rest of my life.
