If you'll be leaving plenty of leafs on the plant sure. If it will leave it mostly bare than no, you need them. Even damaged leafs may provide some benefit and effect the plants ability to provide food and air etc to the plant to sustain and growth.

thanks for the response. yes, there'll be plenty of leaves still on the plants as i really didn't defoliate at all because they're autos, and this is my first grow. thanks again!
