I have the same issue, i suspect my problem is to much cal. I have hard water, dont know how hard as im doing a poor man grow. No meters no ro. Just me, my best guess and litmus paper.

If i had to guess, im guessing my starting water is around 400ppm. Its actually wrecking hotwater tanks in the area as the city switched to well water vs lake fed.

Should i be testing the soil itself or the water runoff for Ph?

If u are watering proper the runoff takes on the soil ph as it’s buffered on the way thru, when I do it I compare water in and water out

The runoff will give you a general idea but a slurry test of the soil will be much more accurate

It's funny when I joined this forum I was making fun of the overuse of calmag and how its offered up as a cure all, and ever since I keep seeing legitimate calcium issues and recommending calmag lol.

The trouble for me is, excess calcium can cause issues that look similar? Any good “tells” that it deficiency?

With excess usually really dark older leaves can be waxy (before they turn) same rust colored spotting, you'll also start seeing other deficiency as other nutes lockout.

Been busy but she aint dead yet. Ph of my tap water is 7.0, after testing the runoff it has a ph of 6.0
