LED Space from canopy - Fluorescent Retrofit

I have 4-bult T12 Flouro that I got for free. Due to being able to keep the light so close to the canopy I built a veg box at 48"H to save on lumber. I veg plants to be about 3' tall including the pot. Considering replacing the T12s(40w each) with plug and play T8 LED grow lights (17w each). I have concerns with having enough space for LED.

I keep the flouro about 6" from canopy if not closer. in my flower tent I have QB and keep them about 30" away?

Any advice on light height, or even general thoughts on replacing Flouro with LED?

If the led lights are diffused, it softens the light quite a bit. You can get them nice and close. Quantum boards are way more wattage and not diffused. I turn mine down so I can get them closer.

You should consider screw in led bulbs.
It's the same leds, they are cheap at the dollar store. A 100w eq is 15w. I've had good results from them.
