Hey guys. I am getting ready to buy lights for my grow room. It is a 10x10 room. I have been researching lights for awhile. The best LED grow light I think I have found is called the Solaro Sun Clone. www.improvedled.com My buddy has tried one and from what I have read I think that is what I am going with. BUT, I would like to know what people have to say about the other tops brands out there before I make my final decision. Such as 357 magnum, ufo, blackstar, stealth, hydrogrowl, etc. I will be probably buying about 5 lights so I really want to research this good. I don not want to have to buy anymore lights after this!!!
It just seems all manufactures claim theirs is the best but I am getting conflicting stories from people that have tried these other lights. So based on my research it seems to me what makes the Sun Clone stand out from everybody else is that they use semi opto-conductors from Osram VS LED. I have not found any other brand using Osram or semi opto-conductors. I mean it is all in the type of bulb being used to make the light truly work good, right? All thoughts on this will be great!

Hmmmmmm. Have you tried this light? It looks like the red PEAKS at 630nm. So that means that it probably hardly ever reaches that range. What brand of LED'd are in there or are they semi opto-conductors???

So I looked at the Solaro and $1300 for a light? What is it equivilence to HPS?

Well in tech. terms you really cant compare any LED light to HPS in wattage. But I think it is comparable to 800 watt. But you see LED is about having the right wavelength of light to make it good. A plant only uses like 20% of the wavelength that it puts off. Thats why we have to use mutiable 1000 or 600 watt lights to get good grows. My buddy grew 6 plants under one of these lights. So he is going to get 4 total for his 10x10 room. Since the plants only grow about 4 feet tall he can now grow more plants in that area! Plus each one of these lights only draws 1 amp!!! So electric bill will be nothing along with cooling bill that justifies the cost of light. Plus this light will last for 10 years plus!!! No more buying bulbs every year and all that BS shit.

One more thought. If you notice the Sun Clone only uses like 80 semi opto-conductors. Thats shows you that they have the exact nm needed. Now look at other LED lights and they have anywhere from 150 to 600 LED's. I think what that means like grab a handful of #%$$ and throw it against the wall and see what sticks. IMO. LOL

Well amps has nothing to do with power cost. Power companies charge you by watts and being that it only uses 140 watts that isnt bad. The bad thing is that it cost $1300 and I havent seen any results or reviews on it.

Your right. You are charged for electricity by kilowatt/watt. The reason I bring up amp is that is how you determine your circuits. So if you have a 15 amp 120v. curcuit, which is a common household recepticle (up to 4 or 5 plugs i believe), that would mean you could plug like 15 of these lights together and run them off of one recepticle. Thats pretty impresive to me!!!! Unlike our 1000w hps lights you have to have 220v circuits ran for them. I did call them too and they said they have reviews in progress. I will see if my buddy has any pics.

Ya pics of the sun clone light would be great. You can run a 1000w light on 120 but it only lets you do 3 per circuit instead of 5 lights at 220.

IrishBoy has done reviews on the Spectra LED 600w, which can be found at Grow LED hydro.com

I'm interested in the spectra led 290, in comparison to the blackstar 600w and the magnum 357, although i'll be using either a 3x3 or 4x4. Which Light is best?
I really wish there were more reviews out on this, and more growers understanding the benefits of LEDs.

Ive been an electician for 20 years, biggest thing in industry is led, from recessed lights to strip lights. Sure it will take over in all areas of lighting, just a matter of time

dont go by how many plugs or lights you have. look at your breaker in breaker panel for room youre using . if its 15 amps that means you can run up to 1800 watts on that circuit at 120 volts. remember watts= volts x amps. if they each draw 140 watts your maximum amount of lights to that circuit would be 12 whether you have 1 outlet or 5

make sure you have a 25 amp breaker(rare) to run 3 1000 watters. if you are plugging 3 in to 15 amp circuit one of two things is happening 1) a 15 amp circuit allows for 1800 watts at 120 volts so you are using 3 different receptacles all using different breakers or 2)you have a defective 15 amp breaker and better change it before panel catches fire

for best results use blackstar 500 or 600 but either brand you go with do not believe them that a 500 or 600 will cover a 4x4. for optimal results stay in a 3x3

So it sounds like you use these lights. Do you have any pics of the final product of you grows? What is the ratio and nm of lights the blackstar uses? Also what brand of LED's?
