What’s the foot print your thinking each set will cover? The economy model seems like the price range I would look at if it had all the bells and whistles. Not to take away from these, they look amazing, just that’s a lot of money, but if the integration between hardware and software works out it might be worth it for some people. I love the connectivity, but I currently run a bunch of sensors the same way (Bluetooth to hub), and it works but I think a straight WiFi would be better and offer better range. Those are some

I'm with you on automation all the way my bro. The room I have pictured is all remote controlled. The only thing I do not have cloud based is the soil sensors and I am working on that. Everything else I can control from phone/ipad thru smart plugs and apps. If any of you run Alexa you can control every aspect of your room thru that one app. I actually put in w request that the casambi app be Alexa compatible. It works off of bluetooth to a gateway device(in my case an ipad on the wall) with multiple devices being able to be connected. So I can monitor and make changes from wherever I may be. With a $25 wifi cam you can keep an eye on what's going on inside your room also. I will give a layout of this room and how I have everything connected. I think everyone will be surprised how cheap it really cost to automate a grow room.
So each luminair covers a 4x4 foot print perfectly. I have two over each 4x8 tray with only a few inches between each lamp. One of the nicest features in the app is the "scene" function. I can literally adjust my intensity, spectrum, fade time play by play. So if I want to simulate sunrise and sunset with heavy red then 3hrs after sunrise go heavy white for the midday intense sun then go back to heavy red for sunset it's all possible. Same way you can just go heavy white/blue for veg the heavy white/red for flower. As far as pricing goes we all know that they pay for themselves on the first harvest and then there is no maintenance/ bulb changing from there on out.

I'm with you on the 315 team. That's why I am doing this test against the DLI315's and also against the 630 vs the LED. I think the economy unit will be the work horse with a price point and production on par with the 750w class systems that are out buy having a consumption of 40-50% less than a 1k FE lamp. Let's face it, unless you have 15' ceilings a 1k DE is out of the question. Running lamps that are cooler allows you to cut down your total CF that has to be cooled. It's more efficient to cool a 10x10x8' room than any 10x10x15'.

I'm all ears on automation. I travel a lot for work and getting all things automated on the cheap would be awesome. I'm watching this thread ...


So for automation using what's available to the general public is the easiest and cheapest route. This will be based off of Amazon Alexa and compatible hardware. For the lights you will need some standard two pole 120v coil contactors rated to your needed amperage. These contactors will be controled by smart plugs with on/off cycles. Any fans circulating/exhaust can also be plugged into smart plugs for timed cycles or manual on/off remotely. They can also be used for feed pumps to cycle irrigation or manually feed coupled with 3/4" solenoid valves.
For your HVAC a Bosch BCC50 wifi thermostat will control your AC and give you a humidity reading. It is also Alexa compatible so you can control your temp/humidity remotely.
To keep an eye on the grow room while your away a Tethys smart cam with night vision, two way audio and motion detection alerts works well. It can also be used through the facility to keep an eye on things while your away. It is also Alexa compatible. Also testing out some of the plant monitors in the pic. If I could get these on wifi or connected to Alexa it would be nice.

These are the numbers on the gen 5/6 that I have. The units that I am running are gen 7 and I should have some gen 8's in 3 weeks. Once I have the data on the gen 8 bars I will post it. This is an ongoing process with gen 8 going to be close to what I am looking for. The two gen 7 units I have that have 3 blue heavy bars I am not so pleased with. I think I am going to swap out the 3 blue bars for red. With the space that I have between the bars I can fit a single diode row bar to supplement blue if necessary in veg.

How's it going guys ? Here is a quick update about two weeks into flower. The back two tables with fast growing hybrids really took off and the two front tables with MPK grew a bit faster than usual. The back left table was the first to be planted 12/6 @ around 12". Front left table was planted next 12/7 @ around 8". Back right was planted afterwards 12/10 @ around 12". Front right was the last to be planted str8 from the clone machine 12/11. The plants on the LED side did see a Cal deficiency early thru vegg so I bumped them.up a little and the next set of leaves came out fine. I have the LED's set @ 630w each to compare with two DLI315 and the blue spectrum dialed down to 20% with Red/White at 80% roughly. The Morning/afternoon fade time is set to 20min also.
