.... So temps are a concern for most of us, most of the time. Summers coming and while we have a 3ton minisplit and remote ballasts, temp control is ALWAYS have important.

Looking to add light to an 8k verts space. Thinking LED is the best lumens for the lowest heat ratio. Have considered Gavitas but hear they run super hot.

Am willing to spend to get a LOT of LED lights on one side of the space but temperature matters.

Long story short, LED runs coolest of all lights, yes? I'm good at plumbing but bad at electrical ... can maybe hire out ... do DIY panels run cooler? What's the vest way to get max light at lowest temps with LED?

Do retail units all keep similar heat profiles?

LEDs run cooler overall though, right? I would love Gavitas but theyre supposed to cook ...

hps has an efficiency of 35% to 40% when brand new. But decreases fairly fast. Meaning that 35 to 40% is turned into light...the rest is pure heat.

97% of leds on the market will not be more efficient and thus HPS WILL RUN COOLER than almost every led panel made.

DIY gets around that and allows you to access the top 3% and get leds that are 45-60% efficient and will hold that indefinitely with no degradation with decent cooling.

The difference is that HPS throws heat towards the plants whereas heat from LEDs is pulled out the back with heatsinks
