Howdy farmers! I am going to give this another try and can hopefully get to the finish line this time. Grow #2 was going great until I had to leave for a work trip for 4 days....when I got home I found that one of my "Fortune Cooki X Dosido" freebie seeds/plants hermed and ended up jizzing all over the other three plants in the tent... I painfully got rid of all of them and started preparing for attempt #3..
I am running Humboldt "Blueberry Muffin" seeds this time. Plan is to grow out 4 plants in 5 gallon fabric pots.
Tent = 39x39x72
ACI 4" fan (installed outside of the tent)and 69Pro controller, two oscillating fans and an ACI humidifier.
(I am not running a carbon filter - tent is exhausted directly outside of the house via a dryer vent hood that I installed that exits near the 2nd story roof line. I am really curious as to how this will work with controlling the odor inside of the house during late flower. We are rural so I don't need to worry about "that smell" but I don't want a green cloud of stank covering the outside of the house, either... LOL) Hopefully I will get to thoroughly test it all out with this grow.
Light = Spider Farmer SE5000 The light is installed at the top of the tent and I have 65.5" from the floor to the light.
Of course my first two grows were with FFHF soil and feeding the FF Trio + Cal Mag.....so this time I am doing something completely different. I am trying ProMix and Gaia Green for this run.
I prepared the soil two weeks ago. I used 1 20.87 gallon bag of ProMix HP, 1 bag of Wiggle Worm castings and I added about 3 additional gallon scoops of perlite. I am roughly going to follow the "Shaded" recipe. I amended the soil at a rate of 3 Tbsp of Gaia per gallon and for this initial run I calculated the amounts based on 20 gallons of promix, so it was a total of 60 Tbsp. I split this 70% All Purpose and 30% Power Bloom. (42 Tbsp of AP and 18 Tbsp of PB). I will also be adding mykos, epsom, gypsum and possibly some other organic ingredients, but that is that start.
I soaked the first 4 of the Humboldt Blueberry Muffin seeds on the evening of February 26th. All four of the seeds had started to open by the following evening, so I planted them into solo cups filled with FFHF soil, since my promix was not yet "cooked".
I labeled each of the plants in the order that they sprouted. #1 popped out of the soil first mid-day on 3/1 and #2 was a few hours behind. #3 popped out of the ground on 3/2 but only had one cotyledon leaf and the first set of leaves were all mangled...I did not have much hope for her. #4 never sprouted, so on 3/5 I soaked and planted another seed and the "re-run" of #4 emerged on 3/8 and she has been catching up ever since.
All four of the girls were moved to 1 gallon fabric pots on 3/15. It was a little early, but I wanted to get them moved and it went OK but the good news is that none of the plants showed any negative reaction at all from the transplant. The 1 gal pots are filled with FFHF plus additional perlite because I wanted to make sure that my Promix had at least 4 weeks to sit before trying it out.
I am doing my best to treat these girls with care, be on point with watering and keep the environment in the tent as ideal as possible. Going for as low stress as possible. I will probably just top once and do some LST and once they are established in their final 5 gallon pots, I will hopefully be able to take a few cuts and then flip them to flower.
I will update as things happen so I can document and use the info as a resource. If any of you see me doing something dumb (quite common) please let me know!
Here is a pic of my girls as of this evening. (The right front plant is the one that is a week behind the other three) Thanks for checking it out, and happy growing.
