Maybe the dumbest question of the day but here we go...

If I have some ladies in veg for 4 weeks and their light cycle is 18/6.....Lights ON at 5am-11pm and lights OFF from 11pm-5am.

I want to start my 12/12 flower light cycle to lights ON at 5pm and lights OFF at 5am.

How do I do this? Should I leave my lights on for 24 hours for a couple/few days and then go straight to 12/12? Never been a fan of slowly going day by day from 18/6 to 17/7 to 16/8 to 15/9 to 14/10 to 13/11 to 12/12. Cool to just leave lights on for 24 hours a few days and go right into my 5am-5pm cycle? Thanks!

a little extra dark before will work too. it's what I do and never had a problem. after all you want to trigger the flower and that is less light. seems leaving it on for 24 hrs keeps that from occurring until you shorten the hours.

It's not critical either way...I think most of us here just set the timer to 12/12 when its time and let nature take its course. No prep time...I know some will put them on 48 hrs dark at flip to get flowering quicker...When my lights go out at 7:30 pm on 18/6 in veg I'll just reset the timer to 12 hrs going out at 7:30 pm.... so they get 18hrs sleep the first night.

When you’re ready to flip just turn your light off for 24 hours. This extended dark period will start the flowering process. Tapering off the light over time is a waste of grow time. Simply cut off the lights for a uninterupted dark period of 24 hours.

Just go immediately to your flower schedule and maintain it. What came before won't matter. It's the extended dark hours that initiate flowering.
