HAHA we ALL get anxious over finishing girls....at least I know that I do. I guess if we don't get a little anxious, we should stop growing. But I don't see myself ever doing a grow without being a bit anxious...lol.

some plants are to unpredictable, the serious seeds catalog says the yield off ak is similar to chronic, i done ten chronics 3 months back, to were males the others amounted to only 11ozs, if that were ak i would have 4 ozs more, you never no, it's anxious alrite, the 2 weeks drying is terrible ha ha, question, i put them into a plastic container to dry and keep it in the dark for two weeks, then keep them wrapped in air tight bags, would you recommend this, it's sometimes they seem to much wait . .

The method I use is prolly one of the oldest in the US. I cut em, trim em completely, then put em in paper bags for at least a week. Depending on humidity, some can be ready to smoke in a week, other times is takes two weeks. Also, I only put about 2 wet ounces in each bag. Once they are just a little bit "crispy" on the outside, I put em in the jars. Then just burp the jars twice everyday being sure that the jar stays open for at least 15 minutes each time. After a week of burping, mine are usually ready be stored as long as I like in the jars--no more need to burp--but I still do it every now and then just to be sure I don't develop mold in the jars.

i c what you mean, i heard that paper takes to much out of them while drying, i dryed out weed for two weeks & then i wrapped up 15 ozs awhile back in paper and gave them to my cousin, he then told me there was only ten in it, i doubted this because i never had the problem b 4, but a guy i know said that paper takes alot out of em if it's in it to long, what you think, p.s, my cousin is not a person you could trust either, a snake . .

Paper takes moisture out, but how much depends on how long their in there for. The way I judge mine is by the crispiness. Once the outside gets just a bit crispy, it's time for the jars.

It totally works for me. The last bud that got smoked by someone other than me was said to be great herb. I've never had a bad report on my bud, and it's all been done this way. Some phenos of some strains aren't as good as other phenos, but that has nothing to do with the initial drying method IMO. Sure, a jar cure helps all bud to be better, but I feel the biggest difference in hanging your bud, as opposed to bagging it like I do, is the look of it once it's done. What I mean is my bud doesn't have the leaves curled against the bud all nice and pretty like bud that was hanging after the cut. But I'm not trying to win a budporn contest, just grow great weed. So how it smokes, and whether it "rocks your socks" is far more important to me.

i know kid, but when i have 15ozs and then theres 10, it's a big difference, plastic is the thing really, plastic and in the dark, my friend dose it the same as you, he's mad for curing, thats the name isn't it, it's just this anxious thing of ours, you don't want your crop after all the work been a small yield, especially once you want your electricity bills paid off it, take care . .

Yes I agree that is a big difference, but the only thing coming out of the bud is moisture. And that same amount of moisture has to come out before it's smokeable, regardless of method.....IMO. Maybe I'm missing something though? Ya learn somethin new everyday. Maybe you can do a side-by-side sometime and find out more info on the differences between the two methods? That would be cool.

And yeah, the jarring after drying is called curing. It mainly helps to bring out flavors and a bit of potency.

i'm going to weigh 2 batch's of my next ak the second they come off the plant & are manicured, wrap 1 in paper put it in the dark, put the other in a lunch box with lose lid & in the dark too, then see what their like 10 days later, both into separate curing jars for a few days, one on it's own, the other still in paper, then weigh them again, what you think, any recommendations pro, let me know . .

I think it sounds like a great learning experience for everyone, that's what I think. I'm really curious to see how it goes.

A friend of mine used to hang all of his plants whole, for one week or so, then trim, then jar. We compared notes, and the Pure Power Plant that we were both running (same cut) both lost 75% from their wet weight, to their smokeable weight. This didn't take into account a jar cure like your experiment is going to do. Plus, it was only one strain.

Needless to say, I'm anxious to see how this comes out. Thanks for doing it!
