Yeah, I like seeing other peoples, I think I might try to get help so I could lift the whole lid and try to get a shot of he whole rootball. With all the plants in a single tub they grow into a big block the shape of the tub. I figured I could share these random root shots from previous grows,

Funny that you say that because I have yet to use a chiller. I plan on incorporating one in a little bit, but without one my res stays between 67-73F.

thought u were running one!? damn man that root zone is sick. maybe from seeing so many other dwc grows with brown ass roots i figd it had to be a chilled rez. my roots are rarely white. now that i got a chiller we will see this round.

Will be interesting to see. I am still trying to actually figure out how to incorporate the chiller I will be adding to cool the res. Im pretty much planning on doing a mini-version of the Hydroinnovations tent. I will be using a 1/2 hp ecoplus chiller, a 50 gallon cooler for a res, an 8" ice box at the end of my lights to cool the room/lights, and the return water will be for cooling the Minigen. I plan on setting up a manifold for all of this, but I cant put a res coil into my res, the roots take out all of the space and I have no seperate res to add them into and dont really want to add on for just that purpose because of my space limitations. I am thinking about laying the coil flat under the tubs and just have them sitting on it. Wont be any where near as effective, but Im only looking for about a 5F temp drop. I originally had a different idea I might go back to which would be buying a minifridge and piping it so I could put all of my air pumps in there which introducing cool air into the res will cool it, its just a question of how much and an added benefit would be cooler air is more dense so my do level in my res should increase by an unknown amount. But if you have any ideas on how to make the coil work with my set up Im all ears.

Essentially a small tightly wound counterflow chilling system.

I think you would lose a lot of chilling power by trying to run the coils under your beds.

Any reason you can't drill two more for the intake/exhaust tubing for the chiller?

You'd probably have to put up a screen or something to stop the roots from clogging it, but that's gonna be your best bet, IMO - if memory serves, your tubs are only like 5" high or something - no coil would fit in that.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut, (don't you love the mid-typing ideas), MAYBE you could run a plate wort chiller up in those bitches!!!

I agree on the loss of efficiency, but I dont really have ideas for something else. It is not a tent. It is a crawlspace under my strais that is build the tradtional way(drywall, panda, mylar ect)so it is sealed, and very well. The only air leak I have is my dual hose a/c sucks out some co2, but thats why Im switching to water cooling, then it will be completely sealed.

I had a local Narcotics team try to knock on my door on Wednesday night. I wouldn't open the door for them and told them they must come back with a warrant. Something tells me they will be back soon.I have cut down my entire garden and will not be growing until growing finally becomes leagal. Im sorry to all of those who have enjoyed my threads and help, but I will be gone for a while. I wish you all the best of luck with your ops and I am leaving th journal in tact for everyones benefit. It had been a great year being part of this community and I will miss all of my friends from here.

I will. Just have my elevated parinoia level to deal with. But my place is so squeky clean right now, they might ask if Im running a hospital if they actually get the right to enter.
