Hello again to my farmer friends and welcome to The Second Grow. I have 6 seeds germinated and in solo cups as of today. I may have, in my last minute deliberations, completely ditched my plans of running Bodhi and instead subconsciously gravitated toward the two strains @sshz has recently had such fantastic results with: 2 Irie Orange Gasm and one Expert Seeds Sweet Zombie. I have since decided that this grow will be dedicated in spirit to SSHZ, particularly because he’s already been so kind and supportive throughout my last grow.

The other three seeds are my partner’s, two Expert Seeds Kosher Kush, and the one remaining Super Silver Haze freebie from Seedsman, since that strain has proven to be the favorite from the last harvest.

Due to the cost of heating the separate building used for the last grow, the vegetative period for this one will be hopefully done entirely in my attic space, height permitting. Plastic sheeting has been put up flush with all the walls and the freshly dropped seeds are under a 90W LED at ~36” as of about two hours ago. I just scooped some handfuls of probably-spent soil from the last grow’s pots to start these in. We will be buying some more fresh soil, mixing it with all of the old in bulk, and reamending before transplant happens for these children. Until then, there won’t be much to say or show but I’ll be checking in with news as it comes.

Thanks to anyone who cares to follow along! I’m so excited to see how this one goes, and that I won’t have to trudge through the bitter cold each day sometimes multiple times to check my babies.

I will not be held responable if you screw this up....... LOL But I'll be along for the ride!

Remember to keep your Cal/Mag high for the Sweet Zombie and you'll be fine.

No chance when I have this lovely pH pen! How could I possibly screw it up when my pH is dead on! 🤣 Thank you for the early advice as always, I’ll be the-reading that thread through this seedling phase to refresh on your findings.

I’m also thinking I may either purchase an HLG fixture or DIY one in the 550-650W range, either to switch to for flowering or to save for the next grow. Building one really sounds like a fun project and would probably save me a lot of cash, at the expense of a warranty.

Excited to follow along! Also to see another sweet zombie go. They are very nice plants.

Thanks! Glad to see you in here Milson. No promises, but I’ll get back into everyone’s threads when I have a little more time. I reached a point over the last few months where having 100+ new posts to read through on my watched threads each day became overwhelming and I stepped back from the Farm. I’ll have to go back to my old style of binging one thread at a time

You can put me toward the back of the queue haha most of my thread is jokes and nonsense or me putting something huge there to trip over later for me or someone else.

Later this month should be getting into bud porn season ;-)

The most pathetic one-month-and-some progress post! This grow has not gotten the level of care or the level of light that the previous ones got early on, up until this past week. They were struggling horribly in their solo cups but we finally repotted them into their 5gals this past Sunday.

First the bad news: my orange gasm #1 and my partner’s SSH both damped off right after breaking the soil line, due to me not seeing them quickly enough and leaving sandwich bags covering the cups for a day after they emerged. They got condensation on their growth tips and that was that. We replaced them with another orange gasm and expert seeds’ Mac1, respectively. Very upsetting but this is now month old news and I’m not worried about it, just a reminder of how delicate the beginning stages are for future reference.

Now onto the current situation!

We incorporated 10gal of coco, soaked overnight in dilute calmag and nutrients, with the recycled soil from the previous grow, in order to increase aeration while giving us the volume required for 6 plants. We then arranged them in a straight line with a light over each two.

Yesterday was spent cleaning the flowering area and putting up panda film in preparation for these girls to exceed their height limits, then last night we topped them for the first and only time, and we’re working on cloning the cuttings. A friend of mine lost two plants deep into flower when they took a trip and their trusted babysitter neglected to water the plants for a week. They recovered once rehydrated, but hermed horrifically all over immediately after. Hoping to gift two clones to get them back on track, and then the rest of them may just be our next harvest after this round.

One more thing, I got an HLG 600H to flower these girls under once it’s more consistently warm out! Super excited to see what it can do, and it will likely be our main light through the late fall. Maybe, possibly, I’ll still supplement with the CMH to be completely sure of our coverage, but we’ll see about that.

Without further ado, the girls (notice the deficiencies and necrosis that started before transplant):

Long time no see y’all. I apologize for leaving the farm hanging like I have, but I went through a cycle of not having the energy to dedicate to this hobby as I sometimes do. I finished out the grow and have another underway but haven’t felt like recording so much of it.

With that being said though, here’s some results:

Orange Gasm 1: 105g

Sweet Zombie: 103g

Kosher Kush #2: 93g

Orange Gasm #2: 85g

Kosher Kush #1: 81g
A950D2E6 F72C 467A 9322 75DCD752213A

I have no decent harvest pics of MAC1 but she finished end of week 7 with 56g even, and smelled like pure grape syrup. Lovely smoke. Was a pain in the ass having one plant ripen 3-4 weeks before the rest.

As of now I am in week 5 with the remainder of my orange gasm seeds and one gifted cutting of expert haze, 5 plants under my HLG 600:

The expert haze and 2/4 gasms got a little insanely hungry around week 3-4, I went from 500 to 900ppm in two waterings and they still took a while longer to stop yellowing. Sad about the lost potential, but I was feeding 600ppm at this phase last time around and so I’m also excited by how much hungrier these girls are. They’re drinking at least 3x as much as well, so here’s hoping these are all good signs for my yield!

I’ll be picking a mom from the gasms this time around and have 3 cuts from each plant (except gasm #2) waiting. Funnily enough, gasm 1, which is a clone itself from last round, is really looking like the winner.
