A Cary man was jailed in Mecklenburg County this week after agents confiscated 1.6 pounds of “high-grade” marijuana from his luggage at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
Michael Dean Markham, 29, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and was jailed on $3,500 bond.
According to a search warrant, the arrest came after a suitcase with “a large bag of marijuana” was confiscated Tuesday at Sacramento, Calif, International Airport. Federal agents kept the luggage there instead of sending it on its scheduled flight to Charlotte.
When Markham landed in Charlotte that night, he inquired about his luggage and was told it would arrive the next morning, according to the search warrant. No one claimed the suitcase when it arrived, and police seized it.
