I have a bad insect problems, so I introduced a praying mantis into my room. Hopefully it eats a few lol What are some thoughts about this?

Mantis are awsome they will eat continuously all day I usually go with lady bugs and they wipe out almost everything however a lady bug will only eat one bug a day so u need a lot of them compared to the mantis

Mantids, cool as they are, don't eat the bugs that bug us the most.

And Ladybugs are only good if you read up on them.
First, the adults do indeed eat more than once a day. They eat all day.

But, outdoors, they fly away.

That's not what you buy them for. You get LBs so you can release them at sundown. They don't fly at night.
In the morning they gobble up some aphids, LAY EGGS, lots of eggs, and then fly away.

It's the Ladybug larvae that are voracious bug eaters. It's all they do.

Until they turn into beetles.
Then, it's rinse, lather, repeat. :)

The more you know, the mo betta you grow.

Spot on advice Wee Zard, release at sundown. Ladybugs under lighting can have the same outcome-gone the first day-as they tend to bounce off the lights and die. Lacewing larvae are voracious little guys too, look for them.
Also, kill all ants, they are the top vectors for aphids. you see it outdoors all the time on poplar saplings; ants farming aphids because they poop straight sugar.
