Maybe an odd question but I was shocked...

So when I finished my dark devil and cut it, I notice something very off about the stalk going down into the coco. It was hallow with a decent size hole right down the middle, it didn’t go up the whole stalk maybe about a 1/4 of it but what causes that?
Sry I would post a photo but I never took one before I pulled it out the pot and re planted another seed, busy busy busy.

Many plants finish with hollow stems but it usually runs the whole length.
