It`s my water! I own the spring and the creek as far as it runs on my property. I also have water rights to my property on the deed. I already talked to fish and game last year and they said they could suspend my water rights when the trout are spawning in the class 1 creek mine runs into. I also need a permit to make a dam. I don`t dam it up, just dig a hole and drop the intake to my little Honda XM10 in it. It feeds a garden hose to the tank in the truck. I `m more worried that it will run dry this year or so low I can`t get water anyway. But thanks. Funny thing is the game warden didn`t even know the creek was there, LOL!
Almost water up. Just need to replace what we use in the morning and fill the reserve tank for the RV`s in the morning, then off to town yet an other time. I`ll have to keep a tight ship when it comes to water cause were in for a heat spell Sunday through maybe Wednesday or so. Weather report says in the low 100`s then it sides slowly until it`s in the mid 80`s next week. Lots of water and bigger plants! They`re already growing fast !
Super info! Thanks!!! Was wondering why kale salads seem to make me feel better. I also like baby spinach in sandwiches. (Yes low carb whole wheat/grain breads) And I`m a fan of veggies in general , mostly uncooked, with just a little low fat dairy and lean meets.
Your welcome always glad to share some info. But to be honest I didn't even know what kale was before I watched this video lol, I guess you learn something new everyday. :)
Didn`t get to town yesterday. Got to go today before the heat spell and get stocked back up on gas for the generator and a few other things. My blood sugar was good at 96 early this morning. That was after eating dinner 6 hours before. I feel better this morning except for my foot still hurts some. Hope to be off early to town and maybe...just maybe back before dark this time!
Well that didn`t work out to well! It`s almost 1am and I have the food in the freezer/fridge and a truck load of gas can`s, PVC pipe and lumber to unload in the morning.
Up early today. Getting ready for a trip to town with my son. I only have a few things to do and we plan on catching a movie. Next two projects are to put up the screens and get the office trailer delivered. I have everything for the tunnels to be put up and reinforced and will be working on converting them to greenhouses next. I also plan on working on the office trailer and then winterizing the motorhome. Got an other trip down south coming up soon also.
Today we started to put in the screens and decided we need the PVC pipe up in place first so that`s what we did. I`m wanting to try to bend the larger plants under the screen now instead of topping them if there stocks can be bent without damages. I figure I`ll need to trim off the lower foliage and can make some clones with that material if needed. I still may have to top a few as the stocks have become hard and would just break anyway. I shouldn't have any problems with putting up the screens on the smaller plants.
Been working most of the day on the screens. Decided to do 4 x 8 sections instead of doing 40 foot rows . There are 5, 4 x8 foot sections per row and two rows per tunnel times 3 so that's 30 sections in all. It`s a bigger job than I had thought and will take longer than planned. I`ll take a few pics before I cover the girls with screen and as I go along. Most of the plants will be bent under the screens if not to brittle so this makes it more of a training method than a true Screen of Green. Most the larger ones are bushy enough to begin spreading out to fill the screens fast. Because the upper hormones of the plants will be disrupted they should tend to bush more until aloud to grow tops through the screens. I`ll be looking for lots of tall straight tops that will be easy to trim and hope it increases yield as it does when done indoors. Sometimes the increase can be as much as 20% indoors. I think that is because they get less shading from the limited indoor lights but it should also work better outdoors where they can also shade each other from the sun. Increased yields from outdoor are because of the combination of longer veg time coupled with sun light at a strength slightly greater than 17 x 1000 watts, add to that greater to unlimited root space = bigger plants and more yield. If I get my greenhouses complete in time I`ll be adding a few hours of light to the end of the day for a few weeks to allow for even longer veg time. This will push back harvest into the rainy season but I will have them under cover in a controlled environment and will have the office trailer set up for drying . Should make up for slightly late planting and increase the yields further. Id like to put heaters and some 1000 watt lights in at least one 40 foot greenhouse and try some shorter flowering time stuff as a second crop. Maybe an auto flower cross of some kind. If I had them started in September and transplanted them right after harvest It could work. I was thinking next year I could start some in April along with the regular flower time plants, harvest the auto flower plants before the regular ones began in flower and use light derivation to finish the regular ones early while starting a new crop of auto flower to plant after the early harvest of the regular ones. Three harvests before November and then done for the year. All with keeping within county plant counts at the site. I`m allowed 99 with no more than 66 in flower with my acreage. If I wanted to not spare expense I could set up for 4 full grows and grow year round but this old guy needs the yearly break !
I finished the screen and have them set to attach to the inside of the 4x8 beds but after that I`m going to have to put more 4 foot supports in on the inside of the beds. The outside of the beds already has 4 foot supports that have the PVC attached to them every 4 feet but I only have ones every 8 foot on the inside. When the screen get stretched across the beds that won`t be enough support for the wood strips the screens are attached to and the screens wouldn`t be tight in the middle. The draw back is more work needs to be done , it will be harder to get the hose down the rows to water and I`ll still have the vertical supports to make for the PVC pipe so it will support the snow and won`t need to be taken down this Fall. I also need the ends covered with intake and exhaust vents as well as fans for circulation. It`s going to cost a lot and be more work but when it`s done I`ll have greenhouses instead of tunnels. The construction never ends! I`m also starting the search for some 5-10 year rated woven poly cover. It has to be strong stuff you can walk on if you wanted to ! N o more cheep plastic ! If I`m going to do this right I need better quality plastic ! Going to try to get pictures taken in the morning of what I`m doing and as I go along.
Looking great, nice clean set-up. I use screens and I "weave" my own using eye screws n mason line. It's a pain n my ass lol. Cant wait to see these ladies fill out
Ones under the tree are spares, Blue Dream x X . The lone tall one is my Coughdrop Kush. Smaller ones are the Jews Gold, and Orange Cookies. the large ones SFV, Thin Mints , etc. All great genetics. Had a couple of the Cookies turn runts so putting in a couple of the ones from under the tree to replace them. I don`t think I`ll need to replace any more so the rest of the Blue Dream will end up in tubs or smart pots.
Should be getting my office trailer delivered today and going to fetch water, stain boards and put them up on the inside to support the screen and later support the PVC pipe so it doesn`t need taken down. My son got back late last night from his hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. He can help when I go to stretch the screens. I also have a run to LA to do this week. I`m looking forward to having stuff caught up in camp. So much work this year ! I learned a long time ago when you make a little money it just means you have the ability to get more done. That also means more work / activities. Money isn`t for pleasure, it`s the grease that feeds progress ! It frustrates me when I can`t afford to be working on projects, but it also wears me out when I can afford to work on projects. At some point I`d like to have a little nest egg and be caught up on stuff. I wouldn`t mind a vacation , say a long trip to exotic places in search of new genetics! If I was younger I`d like to hike the Kush Mountain range and end up in Tibet somewhere. As I can`t stand on my feet very well anymore or walk any distance that isn`t going to happen!
My son decided to take a few more days off and visit his sister and family. This means more work on my part. Catching up the water , watering staining boards for the screens and hoop supports, etc. along with cleaning, caring for animals (Mine and his). It looks like possible rain so had to put what I could under cover and will dash out if necessary for the rest. On top of that I need to make that trip to town and it`s getting very close to an other trip to LA. Have had little rest and haven`t had a shower in days!
I got everything on my list done but the trip to town. Going this morning. I even mixed the tea in the 325 gallon tank and gave the girls a good soak. If I could only get that much done every day! One thing I`ve been putting off is digging out the Alaska septic. It won`t handle two people on a full time bases as the solids are built up. If I wait until rainy season it will be that much harder to do. It will be a stinky messy job ! If I had a legal septic I could just have it pumped out.
There are septic pumping companies that will come pump out rv holding tanks, we have used them before. IIIRC it was about 1504 each time. Or if you have access to a backhoe you can install a descent diy septic made from IBC ( Intermediate bulk container)totes or even 55 gallon drums. May not be legal but what is anymore?
I used this exact design on a parcel years ago, and even during trim season with more than a dozen people using the toilets it has never failed.
