One key factor that I learned (last week, from a book) is that synthetic nutes pass through the soil and are only absorbed at the root level on that said passing, organic feeds sit and stay in the soil and hang out at the root level ...big difference.
What book? Yes with organic many ammendments act as nutrient buffers and are present in all the soil so they hold them better. Thats also part of the reason why synthetics are so bad for microorganisms. The rhizosphere is surrounding the roots so most microorganisms are living there and thats where the salts from synthetics accumulate the most... so it makes perfect sense. Thats also why I like to PH my water (not super exactly but keeping it close to 6,2 and 6,5 for veg and flower), because the microorganisms that facilitate the intake of micro and macro nutrients are not present in all the root system and like I said, while ph buffers help I certainly fucked them up more than once for not phing my water when I was using acidic supplements (Such as Big Bud + Iguana Juice or Alpha Boost or any fermented plant liquid). Sometimes I get too comfortable after several grows with no problems and I need a slap in the face to get back on track 🤣

Oh! Another important thing! Sorry I know Im writing waaay too much but the reason I add arlite or expanded clay pebbles in my substrate is because microorganisms can use it as a home. It retains enough nutrients and water to feed them and they like it there. Thats one way of having more microorganisms outside of the rhizosphere.

Quick question on living soil we know it feeds the whole time since the feeds mixed in the soil my question is when does the fertilizer leave the soil so when do you start to flush your buds of the fertilizer that was used their whole growth

Last question have you ever had these buds tested to see how clean they are cuz I don't see how they couldn't be full of chemicals

Anybody to answer would be grateful personally myself I would never grow like this or or autoflower just a waste of time to me if I can't get a pound and a half a plant waste of time
They can’t be full of chemicals if none are used, the whole basis of living soil

Example, here it the main top dress I’ll use after flower to recharge the soil, at no point to I add any chemical

Here’s a rundown of craft blend and its ingredients, everything else I feed is the same,

FPF = fermented walnuts etc
Gnarly barley, Sprouted barley milled
Etc etc,

You can even grab a saturated paste test and a standard soil test of their soil off their website for each mix they make if you wanna break it down
I had batch 2 of the dominion blend

🚫 Ingredients We Avoid

At BuildASoil, we believe in keeping your soil as pure and natural as possible. That’s why we avoid using so-called "organic" ingredients that may contain hidden contaminants or questionable sources. Here are some of the ingredients we purposefully leave out of our Craft Blend:

Even when the bag says organic, it's only approved for organic use and will NOT come from an organic source.

  • ❌ Steamed Bone Meal - Comes from cow and pig slaughterhouses
  • ❌ Blood Meal - Same as bone meal
  • ❌ Chicken Manure - None of this comes from organic fed chickens
  • ❌ Feather Meal = Same as the manure
  • ❌ Bio-Solids - Human Waste!!! Treated by municipalities and sold to soil companies

These ingredients may seem organic, but they all come from sources that don't align with our commitment to quality and sustainability. We choose only the cleanest, most beneficial inputs for our blends, ensuring your plants get the best possible nourishment without compromise. 🌱💚

Yup, the plant can then decide what it wants to consume, living soil is like a buffet for the plant it can pick and choose what it wants and needs. Synthetics is like desert, give it a big piece of cheesecake and there might be enough of what it needs in that piece of cake to keep on growing but it’s definitely missing out on other non essentials that make it healthier. As mentioned above.
Add to the fun. In earthboxes they can also choose to only uptake water.

People don’t understand that when you put dry amendments in the soil the nutrients are not available right away. They have to get broken down.

@Mikedin are you gonna lollipop the one in the 3x3 a bit? She is looking great and super healthy but I think removing stuff that is in the dark will evolve in better buds. I dont know when you lollipop thats why I ask, I usually lollipop after they stretch in flower, usually around the 3rd week. I think that lollipoping before flower is a bit risky because the plant will stretch even more in early flower. Thats why I lollipop even autos in flower and not in veg, autos can get really thin and tall otherwise.
she was defol’d back at week 3, she’s just about to end week 4 on Saturday I believe, I let her globe out a bit, kinda wanted to lol, I cleaned her up inside / underneath etc but not my traditional lollypopping like I do on the scrogs

She was an unexpected plant to be honest, just wanted to run out the kahuna 2 mother I couldent just chop her haha, even with the big one over in the 4x8 I had to do it lol

Some up and comers 😁

I want to play with those badly. Have a couple in wait. I threw out my garage tents (4x2 and 4x4) last month. gonna try a single 5x5 for the winter season. Be interesting to see what I can get out with two of those in a 5x5.

It’s like people who eat foods that were not grown organically, they don’t flush that’s soil in the field, it stays in the food you eat, that’s why I grow so much myself

Then I thought he’ll, if I won’t eat those synthetic feeds why the hell would I smoke em, and into organics I went, then on to living soil

Same with the veggie garden, last years pics tomato plants were 8’ tall stacked to the top

Dug into the soil the other day and just solid worms 🪱 soil is prefect to be amended, but it’s been raining all day and will for the next 2 so gotta keep the 2’ tomato plants in the basement alone haha, they’ll be a foot tall once in ground I bury 8-12” of stem

Why use synthetic feeds when organics, permaculture practices and composted leaves can do this, no blight anymore no defs just growth

THIS! I also avoid anything animal related ammendments except for bat guano (collected in the wild, natural bat diet) and worm castings. They say that the ammendment is fit for organic because its organic matter but they dont say anything about the farm. Antibiotics and hormones given to those animals will still be inside the blood meal and manure. As for bone meal, it doesnt retain the antibiotics and the hormones but they can accumulate heavy metals including lead and mercury.
That company is pretty solid, never seen any company call out those "organic" components fit for organic grows.
