Howdy friend 😁
I got ya 😁 Fair warning these seeds were all sent to me as last resort, no more left to pop they sen me the last, this plant went through true torture haha, I got her to pop and hit her with silver, I let her fully pollinate herself in the 4x4 (and stole some pollen to make a cross or 2) she literally split down the middle! 8” straight down the main stalk! I duct taped her back together, made her what I called at the time a plant wheelchair, rolling cart with makeshift scrog to hold her up 😆 and got her to where seeds were mostly viable. It’s all my brother I law will grow, he has one he has reran 7 times, germ rates can be low, risk of herms (no reports so far) I sent cap 40 he grew em all and asked for more haha, . Got about 350 seeds total, down to the last 100,

If you can get one to pop I suggest cloning to cross or reversing and making pollen

Whew tons of shit goin on!

Frostette drying, made up some bamboo trellises for the plants in the 5 gallon buckets so they are ready to roll now, happy I can move em if needed,

Garden has gone ballistic removed a wheelbarrow full of suckers off all the indeterminate vertical trellised beefsteaks, lawn cut too lol

Last 2 pics are the last section of the cherry tomatoes, in between each post I have 2 cherry tomato plants, by the end of he season they should be over the top of the 5’ posts, I have red cherry, large red cherry, black cherry (black tomatoes) and indigo cherry, andother black / purple cherry tomato so we’ll see which do the best. Been running them in the same spots every year as a wall, doubled the height this year I’m sure I can fill It up 😜

I have them in the outter edges of their respective plots and then I use the tomato clips and strings to fill them into the center to fill solid and let the other branches reach up, they should be a really nice sight in a Month

Man there really is no visible plant matter when you zoom in on those buds, just trichomes…can’t wait to see how mine turns out.

Tomato question for you tho, do you ever have issues with fungal diseases? Seems like every year mine start off strong and kick out a bunch of fruit then the lower leaves start looking sickly and yellow and mottled or necrotic spots. I sprayed some dr earth fungicide this morning after removing a bunch of lower sickly leaves. Hoping it’ll help. I usually just ride it out and get what I get without spraying anything…curious what you do.

It's a good chance that you're over watering buddy do you plant in ground or do you use pots

Hey Capt…ya it’s possible, I’m in the ground…and in dirt I’ve never grown in, when I dug my holes there were a lot of tree roots so I didn’t get them as big as I wanted, and we’ve had some 85-90 degree heat for a bout a week so I did water a little more frequently, but usually about every 3 days or so I’m watering.

Are you growing determinate or indeterminate varieties? Kinda different approaches

Determinates (bush / row / tunnel varieties) these will set fruit once (sometimes a few will come later) so most will grow them, harvest, remove plants and have a new cycle of plants ready o go, I may do that soon and see how it goes, remove anything that touches the ground, I like the plastic, most of that bottom leaf disease begins from rain splashing dirt on your leaves and letting funguses take hold with the plastic my leaves stay clean

But since you should be able to double crop determinates (2 cycles per season) it’s usually not as big if a concern

Indeterminates I explain in the indeterminates video

I let them grow up then once they are about where that are now I start removing all that bottom stuff in Addition to the sucker branch pruning I single stalk mine tall trellis, they are just over 7’ tall on 2 and 6’ tall on one

Once they are where they are you strip the first foot and a half so there’s nothing there to get disease, then just continue clipping up as they grow romovinf suckers once every 3-4 days (at least once a week)

*Reminder* never remove branches from determinates, they won’t grow more and you’ll reduce your harvest potential

Yep 100% these plants have been in the ground what 6 weeks now (wow long time already haha) and I’ve watered twice, the plastic is crazy good at keeping a consistent moitaire between rainfalls even if it’s 2 weeeks apart they look great and just rip,

I watered the A&B x Okie once at planting 2 weeks ago then once again a week ago when I did the earthworm casting watering and she’s half in the ground

Interesting with the water…pretty sure they’re indeterminate. I like growing heirlooms and the local community colllege has a spring plant sale and a fall plant sale…the spring sale they have at least 50 different heirlooms toms to choose from but the plant tag doesn’t say and I can’t remember…I just pulled my Cherokee purple that i overwintered and I have a Virginia sweet and a jelly bean going at the moment…I’m gonna take a page from your book tho and grow a zillion next year…it’s nice to give them away to friends and neighbors.

But ya I single stalk and remove suckers, except with my cherries and grape tomes I let em go crazy.

I’ll cut back on the water and see how it goes and try to keep it cleaner down low next time.

I love heirlooms I’m growing a Sicilian Variety this year I won’t even at the name because it’s very distinct… and also the only time I’ve seen my name spelled exactly correctly anywhere. Come to find out they came from Sicily, from my families town, I actually just got my book from my family with the exact detailed history of my great grandfather immigrating here, got his immigration# passenger # even boat name he came over in, census records, arrived here 1899 all my other great grandparents and a lot of relatives came over within the next 2-3 years but him I have details down to where he said he was going when he got to Ellis island (a friend he knew) he arrived with $5.20 in his pocket and that was it fuckin wild reading this shit

Anyways the seeds I’m growing came over around 1920ish (these seeds have their own bio lol) with immigrants that bred them in Sicily for 40 years then brought them here and continued another 40 and are selling the seeds now so I gotta see if they are actually relatives I still have back there

How hard is it to get dual citizenship? Wife actually wants to move

That’s pretty cool man, my mom’s husband is about 90 now, but he came over from Italy with his family around that same time, he’s got a bunch of pictures in the house of him and his family on the boat and the ships log and stuff, pretty interesting.

Dual citizenship? No idea man sorry lol.
