I'll just getting this thread started because I'm so happy to have found this cch20 alliance thread. I've been putting so much damn work into this grow and am just thrilled to see a focused community board on this subject.

I just signed up on the site, so I'll keep it short for now and throw out my specs and soon I'll get some pics up and try to give a synopsis of my grow so far.

  • 5x5 Gorilla Tent
  • Viparsepectra 1200w* LED
  • (3 ) Girl Scout Cookies & (1) Northern Lights x Big Bud taken as clones 3 weeks into flower on 8/15
  • Full line of cch20 nutes only
  • 1.25+ lpm/gal air
  • RDWC 4 site 8gal + epicenter
  • 30 gal outside top off rezChiller set @ 65°
  • Room temp range 74°-64°
  • Water level 1/4" below pot
Just flipped to flower tonight after a full drain and clean of the system. It's my first grow ever, and taking on monster cropping may have been a bit much to take on for a first grow.

First of all, it took a lot of patience and a long, long time to re-veg, and I'm still not sure if they were fully ready, but I flipped them today. They are showing pre flowers and growing a ton of extra bud sites. I decided that the 3 GSC were large enough and that the NLxBB was never going to catch up. Besides, the 3 GSC alone nearly fill 50% of the scrog I built, so I went for it.

The whole time I've relied on posts like this to progress my grow and learn on my own. My main issue is dialing my ec/ppm. I am unsure if I should have been following their "hyper aerated" feeding schedule (over 1.25lpm/gal of air) because of how long they took to veg. I feel maybe I was somewhere in between. So I've slowly upped my feeding.

I'm paying it forward by starting this thread and letting the guys who know what that have cch20 grows under their belt tell me what I may be doing wrong so that the next new grower can learn.

Pictures are forthcoming, I took pics during the course of their lives so far, just have to sift through them and post... looking forward to some positive insight and sharing.

Now here is a retrospective of the girls from when they were introduced to my diy UC at the beginning of September, yes, 8 weeks ago. I recently grew a pair of balls and took the training wheels of and fed them a dose in beteeen cch2o's recommendations for highly vs regularly aerated systems and they began to grow at the supercharged rate that we all look for. I was afraid I'd run out of room in my 5x5 scrog when they stretch, hence my flip. Each pic is about a week apart.

I attached my daily "before tuck" and "after tuck" shots from today. Flipped these to flower few days ago, they are very very bushy with growth everywhere below. Growth similar to the bush of a late 70's pornographic actress. And I find myself doing an up-tuck every day because these babies are going from six-to-midnight like the guys who had to go balls deep into those giant cavewoman fur-burgers. But I'm not growing merkins here, I don't want drop my money shot at such a critical stage.

I'm thinking of slowly defoliating below the scrog over the course of the stretch rather than attack it all at once. Sorry if trying to be funny in my posts bothers anyone, but thats just how I write. Any thoughts out there on my proceedings?

Did a little trimming below but I feel like I need to do a lot more near the canopy. There are so many new little bud sites that are clearing the net but there isn't enough room for them. Fan leaves are growing huge and blocking a lot of bud sites. The main branches are possibly being overshadowed by smaller growth. Not sure if this is normal, but I don't want to get through the stretch and have wasted energy on sites that won't produce. Conversely, I don't want to clip anything that would be detrimental to my yield. .

Any suggestions on defoliation? Or if I need to at all?

Fed week 2 bloom yesterday, 460ppm. Filled top off reservoir with 575ppm to drip for the week. Here are a few pics from earlier a stem shot and a before/after the six to midnight up-tuck.

Stretching for sure now. Scrog is crowning like a baby mama. Running out of room like a BBC in BVD's.

My experience, any growth below the screen is pointless. Lolipop everything to the bottom of the screen, it will stretch another 12"-18" so you will be wasting time on flowers that wont develop anyways.

Everything including fan leaves? Or just the new growth that won't make it to the canopy? I have huge fan leaves that are borderline, maybe 2-3 inches below the screen. Thought maybe those are beneficial. But, heard, I'm gonna whack everything below including some of the actual canopy.

There are so many small bud sites that I worry they will either never produce worthwhile flowers or not. This is my 1st grow, just began 3rd week of flower, I have no idea what will fatten up over the next 7 weeks. Gonna have to go with my gunt/fupa.

Here are the latest shots...Day 16 since 12/12. 580ppm/5.8ph. 72°day/62°night.

I would get rid of anything that wont mature by harvest, it will just be fluff anyways. Your canopy looks pretty packed, if light isn't penetrating that, the plant is just wasting energy on flowers that aren't of any real quality IMO. Same with fan leaves, if they aren't getting light, I would remove them. If they are getting light, I would leave them. But also agree to do your own thing and learn from your first grow, that's the best way to figure out what works best for you

All those big ass fan leaves, reaching for the sky. Worrying me that they are blocking out bud sites. Looking lush though, if not to my detriment. Did what I thought was a fair amount of trimming below the scrog. I am sure that some strategic pruning topside would also be beneficial but I'm leaving it be. Thinking once the buds come a little further they will separate themselves.

There are so many bud sites being overshadowed by bunches of fan leaves I wouldn't even know where to begin thinning it out. 28 days into flower today. I'm sure this isn't as big of an issue when not monster cropping. I think I'm just going to tuck them away the best I can and get another light. This viparsepectra 1200w doesn't have a 5x5 spread at 2ft, it's more like 3x3. You can tell by the growth. May get the 600w model to help.

My canopy has it's own IMDB page and has been selected to be the filming location for Jungle Fever 2.

A little update on the grow. It's been 36 days into bloom. I feel like I'm a week behind where they should be. I lightly thinned the canopy by pruning some borderline size bud sites. These sites had large enough sets of leaves to clog up some air flow and light penetration. Also noticing that as the flowers are maturing, the canopy is slightly thinning itself out.
It is still a small jungle and that worries me.

GSC are aa 10 week strain so I am repeating my week 5 regimen of cch2o nutes for actual weeks 5-7. PPM of 700 is being maintained by my 30 gallon top off rez, which is squirting about 2 full gallons per day to these thirsty little slam-pigs. Any feedback is always welcomed.

I know this grow is done by now, but dude all that foliation was blocking energy to the buds!
