NEWARK, Del. - Police say a Newark man kicked a state trooper who tried to take him into custody. Police were called Tuesday to a home about a strange vehicle parked in the driveway.
Officials say troopers found the driver passed out at the wheel, covered in vomit, and could smell alcohol and marijuana.
The driver, 20-year-old Adam Decktor, got out of the car after troopers asked him to. But police say he then kicked an officer and tried to run away.
He's charged with offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, marijuana possession, driving under the influence and other charges.

A Newark-area man was arrested on numerous charges, after he was found in his car in the Pike Creek area. Delaware State Police identified the man as Adam Decktor, 20, of Welwyn Road. On Tuesday, troopers were called to a suspicious vehicle complaint at a residence along the 6000 block of Limestone Road, after a resident reported a vehicle parked in her driveway.

Troopers arrived on the scene and located a Red Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was running and the driver was passed out behind the wheel. Officers were able to wake the operator and identified him as Adam Decktor. Troopers took note to the odor of alcohol that was emanating from the vehicle as well as the odor of marijuana. Additionally, Decktor looked disheveled and had apparently vomited.

Troopers asked Decktor to step away from the vehicle. He initially complied, but then fled on foot. Officers gave chase and took Decktor into custody, but he refused to go quietly. Decktor moved his body around and put his legs up to make it difficult for officers to seat him in a patrol car. He then kicked one of the troopers. The suspect was
eventually transported back to Troop 6 for processing. Decktor was
formally charged with the following misdemeanor violations: Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, DUI and No Proof of Vehicle Insurance.

Bail was set at $4,501.00 secured and Adam Decktor was ordered held at the Howard Young Correctional Institute.
