Alright so my first run in RDWC failed from heat and experimenting too much :fighting0003:

2nd run should be much nicer with the way I have looked over the tent and made adjustments for the extreme heat in the garage over the summer.

This run I have eight, 5 gallon buckets and the res which is 18 gallons. Total estimated volume of water 55 gallons in the entire system.

6 different strains..

(2) 707 Headband
(2) Blue Dream
(1) Green Crack
(1) Sour Bubble
(1) Blackberry OG
(1) Chemdog #4

Setup..

Grow Tent 4ft Wide, 6'6ft Tall, 8ft Long
1/13th HP Chiller
EcoPlus Eco Air 8 - Eight Outlet
Elite 800 Air Pump (pretty small, going to main res)
EcoPlus 396 Submersible & Inline Pump (Feed Pump on Cycle Timer)
EcoPlus 396 Submersible & Inline Pump (Used as a venturi air pump only)
EcoPlus 185 Submersible & Inline Pump (Used for Chiller)
Frigidaire 6500 BTU A/C (Ported to the outside)
424CFM Inline Fan pulling air from the garage, to the lights, to the fan, the blown outside. Using the same port as the A/C vent.
Hydro Innovations Minigen
Hydro Innovations CO2 Monitor
Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier
1 on 4 off Cycle Timer, Controlling flood and water movement.
(1) 600 Watt Digital Dimmable Lumatek Ballast
(1) 600 Watt Digital Lumatek Ballast
Grow Lush Bulbs on both lamps
(1) CoolTube
(1) Xtrasun
All air introduced in the water is taken from outside the tent.

Is the 1/13 hp chiller doing the job. Would it still work as well if you didnt have an ac.

Do you not have a fan (or even a duct booster) pulling on the A/C box? Seems like you would need a little 'something' to help get the heat out of there.

Maybe put a duct wye on there and use the fan to pull both light and A/C heat.

Also, might want to think about moving that airpump up above the water line. If it fails or you have a power outage its going to start to siphon all over your floor.

I totally agree. I was thinking the same thing about the AC. I would just use a separate fan for it though.

Good point as well. Couldn't you use a check valve for the same function?

Could use a check valve, but I found it lowers output. Easier to just hang it, put it on a shelf or bucket.

Thanks guys I appreciate the nice comments!

I already tried the Y fitting.. I have a odd one that has a passive side to it so I experimented both ways.. Now the problem with that. It creates a negative vacuum. I run sealed and co2 and the ambient temps are crap alot of the time outside the tent. What happens, and I can see this by the A/C fan slightly spinning backwards, is when its connected this way, its so nice, that the vacuum affect constantly works, sucking out the co2, AND the cool air IMO. This is why I just reduct it this was instead. Yes it does work WAY better this way, but the negative pressure always I am not so sure is a good thing if it would potentially pulling cold from the target area.

I am thinking of taking those check valves off the venturi pump as well. I just wanted a better flow on it by not allowing water back in the line on the off cycle. I have a venturi style on both 396 pumps.. but with the feed pump and configuration its not working. The other 396 dedicated as a venturi, rocks. I would also have it on the cycle timer but since shes a little older she does not turn on always. So for now its 24/7 on, slightly heating up the water.. I just think for now, more DO, since that ECO 8 Pump does not distribute air properly.

Maybe a NC damper? Only open when the A/C is on to reduce it pulling your cold air/CO2 out?

I don't know, just seems that A/C is going to get overworked and hot and shut down on you the way it is ducted now.

Yes it was getting a little friggin hot with the times I was running the lights, the lights I was running. I also slightly shortened the length of the exit hose piping of the a/c. This particular a/c has a AWESOME fan in the back pushing the hot air away from the unit thankfully. I also run it in economy mode since I am not trying to have a insane electricity bill. This cuts the time its running at one time and the heat it produces in the back. This may not work with all a/c's especially with so many sizes out there. For this 6500 btu model and the 12 inch fan I guesstimate it has.. the 6' inch duct is not big enough. Also the bend does not help it either, but I did check the flow before I hooked it up to the wall duct and there was plenty of push coming out.

For now I changed the lights on time for daytime and nighttime at 4-10am running two T8's and some small lights to keep it going in veg. So far they love it and adjusting perfectly. Much better than initially for sure. Roots also look nice and white for once. I usually use liquid karma as well but I want to appreciate those pearly whites for two weeks or so.

Currently using Canna-Terra Veg, Sm-90, and a bit of calmag.

It was on much more when I did not have the a/c, thats for sure. This is when I was running LP Aero in the tent.

One thing that I would not suggest you overlook is INSULATION for it! I used this hvac aluminum tape on everything that was exposed before.. Buckets no longer "sweat", and I see the chiller turning on much less. Insulate your res as well if its exposed to heat like mine in this tent.

4 Days in the new system. This is and was the healthiest and most robust clone out of the bunch. The other ones were kinda sad though.

Ghetto veg setup. I typically veg with my hps but since I am already using up more watts then I really want to with the a/c going.

I have had some issues going back to Botanicare nutrients after not using the full line for a while. Following the directions on the back was a BIG no no. The way the nute schedule for them is setup is suicide. So now we are recovering from the burn currently. Some of these ladies need some real loving care.. yes I am talking to you green crack and number 2 707 headband. I am certain its just because the cut was stressed as these cuts from the start were the worst I ever ran by far. Thankfully I trust the collective I got them from. If these two do not pickup in the next 3 days I will pickup a few more girls so I have a different strain for each bucket. Currently I have two of the same which I would rather not run two of the same clone.

Pics..

16 Days Veg.. Some have been topped, supercropped, or slightly lollypopped.

Still recovering from the nute burn over here. Also noticed the co2 levels stunting the growth as well. Unfortunately I cannot dial it in below or above 1500ppm so for now its off until they are old enough.

So with the nutes using

100ML PBP
50ML Cal-MAG
40ML Liquid Karma
Pond Zyme (Recommended amount)
100ML Aquashield

Total water volume about 45-50 Gallons Tap 7.0 PH / 215 PPM

Always shooting for 5.7-6.2 PH range
Currently almost 400PPM

Things slowly picking back up..

Now for the good news.. Got the extra strains removed from the tent and replaced them with new strains so hopefully they will grow nicely.

Alien OG
Pineapple Trainwreck
Golden Sour Kush
P.O. Power (Local collectives house strain)

Pictures coming soon. They all look a little miserable right now :(
