I forgot to add my 1/2 time project this afternoon. I got both tents vented to the roof vent.

Luckily, the bedroom that I am set up in is the room that has the attic access, so I installed a quick disconnect dryer vent through the access panel to the attic. On the top side. I ran a couple of feet of flexible duct, then hard lined it right to the roof vent. My hope is that any odor is pumped outside. We are rural, so outside doesn't matter... the only person that I am worried about smelling anything is my wife. She is playing along nicely right now, but if I stink the house up.......I guess my next move would be to build a "tent room" in the barn... LOL

I used the AC infinity backflow dampers on the "in" side of the "y" and then used 3m zip tie sickies to hang everything up. If it would need to come down for any reason, everything is "quick disconnect" so in theory, it should be easy. Everything appears to be working well and now my "lung room" should only be pulling in fresh air.

VERY nicely done!!! I like your very neat solution, very nicely done. I have a similar system, where fresh air moves through my lung room and exhausts through a similar type of deal you have there so its always fresh air moving through the tent.

Thanks fellas! I am happy with how it turned out, and so far it seems to be working. I did also tape off the air return in that room for the home HVAC system, to make sure I was not sucking odors out of the room and pumping it through the house. With all of that and both tents are running carbon filters, I figure I've done about everything that I can.

Now I just have to hope the zip tie anchors hold and it doesn't just fall down. No harm if it does, other than to my pride... 🤪

Update for November 4th, day #9 of flower has been completed!

She got a full watering + CalMag on Sunday morning. I probably should have followed my gut and watered on Saturday morning.... When I opened the tent on Sunday morning, she was super droopy... After watering, she perked right back up after a couple of hours.

It has been very interesting to watch the changes over the past week. Taking pictures is really helping me see the changes. So with that, I will apologize for posting so much, but this is the best place for me to document my first grow. :-) Plus, I get to hang out with all yall cool cats too!

Here she is at the end of day #9. She is really starting to fill the tent out, but I am noticing that she is starting to go vertical. I have my trellis nets on standby. I know with how bushy she is still growing that I will need to do a pretty hard defoliation soon. From what I am reading, a lot of people feel that "Week 3" is the time to defoliate during flower?

Thanks for looking and if I am missing anything, please let me know!

I’ve ran “temporary” ducting twice in my room and both times came back to the room with it all over the floor!😂 I’m surprised this third installment is still up where I put it hahaha!

Great pic! She’s nice and full! Like you said, filling the tent nicely! : )

I do mine in week 3. Some people wait until day 20, but I do mine pretty early into week 3.

Time for a quick "Day 12" of flower update for the journal, and anyone else watching this shitshow! (Damn, I should have chose that as a user name...)

So I had to make some modifications to my exhaust venting that I posted earlier. I was so excited about it but noticed that night, that when I went into the room, it was warmer than the rest of the house and REALLY humid....

After some investigating and general fucking around, I determined that the backflow damper that I had going up from my "flower" tent was not opening enough. That combined with the fact that the "Y" duct that I bought probably leaked more air than it was directing, was just compounding the problem. I simply removed that damper that I had connected to the "Y" and just connected the flexible ducting directly to the Y.

I was not really concerned with NOT having the damper on this run of ducting because the duct running horizontal to the ceiling runs in a straight line over top of where the flower tent is connecting. I figured that airflow trying to go down AND backward was probably not going to be an issue, and so far that has been the case! If needed, I can connect the damper directly to the outlet of the fan housing, but I don't think it will be necessary. I also taped up the sieve that I bought, thinking it was ducting 🤪 Now it's working like I thought it should!

My first grow is almost at the end of "Day 12" of flower. I am still freaked out by how bushy it keeps getting. Leaves are stacked up and laying on each other. I have may oscillating fan pushing a good amount of air around the tent to try to avoid any problems with mold, etc. I fear that I am going to have to do a lot of defoliating and branch removal once I get to week three of flower. (I am assuming that I should wait for the stretching to slow or stop before defoliation, and not just assume it is safe, because it is "week 3"???)

I am considering putting the "clone" from her into the flowering tent with momma soon. It is growing like crazy, and I am excited for it too, but if I flower them together....then I get to try growing from seed for the first time. Those seed packages sitting in the drawer are burning a hole in my brain! I thought about getting another tent, but I am not gonna push my luck with the Mrs. for a little while. LOL

Ok, today is day 15 of flower, 1st day of week three.

I am anxiously awaiting the time to defoliate, this crazy plant is so bushy. Yesterday when I was poking around, I noticed that for every bud site that you can see from the top, there are at least 5x that many that are blocked by the leaves. I used some of my branch bending clips and tried to spread her out as much as I could to open the center up. It worked pretty well and exposed more bud sites, but it is so thick in there!

Anyway, she got watered + FF flower nutes and cal-mag and just a little dollop of molasses.

As far as the clone goes, I think she is doing great! She is humming along and got watered Saturday morning - no nutes yet as we still have time from the transplant to the 5 gal and HF soil. But I did use the same training clips on her. The clone is growing more normally, while the host is still growing crazy bushy.... But I was able to really spread her out and get a lot more exposure to the light!

Oh, about my light. I have been bumping it up a little. We are now at about 60%. Should I be increasing it faster than I am? I don't see any signs of light stress or anything?

Should I start taking some of the leaves, a little at a time to expose the other bud sites? Or should I just wait until I do a harder defoliation?

Thank you!!!

Day 15 of flower!

Update time!

Today was day 21 since the light flip on my very first grow!

Today was defoliation day and it was way more of a cluster than I was expecting. It was a literal rats nest in there, and went after it pretty hard. Probably a little too hard, but it was trapping moisture and I knew it was going to end in a mess.... I spent about an hour, trying to pay attention and not cut the wrong branches. I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned a lot.

She was looking like a sad puppy right when I got done, but she was perked right back up after an hour or two. She is definitely getting a ton more light penetration and airflow now - so I hope that she recovers.

She is due for a feeding in the morning, but I will make the decision upon how she looks when the lights come on in the morning. But the good news is that I have buds!

Give it a week and you'll be saying "did I take off enough?" haha. Even in flower that shit turns right back into a jungle within 2 weeks, I wouldn't worry about it. If there is moisture building up between the nest of leaves they've gotta go IMO, so you did a good job man. A lot of those smaller leaves will double in size very soon, and next time you will have a much better idea of how it all grows.

Update - Day 25 since light change.

She got watered and fed this morning and I am going to continue to increase the nutrients based on information that I am learning from growing out the clone from topping this plant in my other tent. I noticed that the tips of the leaves were getting cooked, so I backed off of the nutrients (FF Trio) and was holding steady at 1/2 recommended amounts.

The the browning at the tips of the leaves continued on new growth, but never progresses past "just the tip". What I am noticing is that her clone is doing the exact same thing, in a separate tent, the light = Mars TS1000 150W set at about 35% and is approx. 30" from the canopy. The clone was repotted to the 5 gal fabric pot and is filled will FFHF soil and receiving nothing but RO water. I've also found some threads about this strain (DeathStar) likes to cook tips, regardless of the fertilizer dosages. That being said she has been given two feedings now at 75%. I will check runoff PPM when she gets water next - probably Friday.

The other new addition(s) will be the first three seeds that I have planted! I made an order with Humboldt a month ago and they threw in a 3 pack of "Fortune Cookie x Dosi Do" freebie seeds. I figured that I would run these as test patients - I am planning on running two of them running Gaia Green, and then I will use the FF trio bottles that I already have for the other. I am not sure if it will be a fair comparison with my dumbass running the show... maybe I will start a new journal for that if they pop out of the dirt!

Anyway, here are a couple of pics for day 25 of light change!

And here is the clone, her name is "Rerun" and I am learning a lot from growing the "same" plant again. She is doing pretty well, I think!?!?

Day 27. She got fed again this morning and went about 80% of recommended for FF trio. It is really cool to watch the changes happening every day. The plant kind of looks "out of focus" or fuzzy. I don't know if what I have going on here is normal or on schedule based on the time so far, but she is changing every day!

I've been bumping up my light and had it at about 80-85% today, but the leaves up top started to get a purple tint to them. I was worried it was light stress, so I backed it back down. I will try to bump it up more slowly. I wouldn't expect leaves to start changing color in week #4, would I???

Still no smell really... or at least no pot smell. It has alternated scents, but most of the time it is a really sweet "sticky" smell. Now it just smells like a bag of mulch in there! LOL

Seedling update. The seeds were soaked in water for about 8 hours on Monday and then planted into solo cups filled with FFHF at around 9:00 Monday evening. They were all different sizes, so #1 was small, #2 medium and #3 was the big one. I was really surprised to see the #3 popped out of the soil at around noon on Thursday. Then around 6 pm #2 made an appearance. #1 was the little seed, and it has not emerged yet....but I am holding out hope. But I will take 2 out of 3 for my first time, assuming I don't fry the two that I have so far!

I did some additional training with the clips on "rerun". Now that I am understanding the growth a little better, I am going horizontal before we go vertical. Then I will hopefully do a much better job on keeping up with the trimming/defoliation on the CORRECT things.... and end up with a nicely filled tent.

Here is a couple of pics. Have a great weekend everyone!

Was just going through pics and thought that this was cool.

Here is my first plant on September 5th, doing her reveg thing and I think she had just started to spit out single leaves... :-( So the logical next step was to top it... My bad

Here she is right now from a similar angle. Never would have made it this far without the help from the farm. Thanks Yall!!!

And here is a sneak peek at the new seedlings. Sadly, seed #1 (the smallest of the three) has not popped through yet. #2 & #3 are doing their thing though. I had to increase the light and add some soil because they got leggy REAL quick!

Looking good. I personally don't mind if they are a bit leggy as it helps give me space for top dressings without covering the bottom branches with soil later on.

@trustyagut Thank you and that makes complete sense, as I was jousting branches every time I watered and it does get annoying!
