i think i'm gonna order an 80 cfm inline fan from htg. my grow area is small and i think that'll provide adequate ventilation. i may crack a window for fresh air. not sure yet.

also, that's cool you live by htg. i'd prolly be in that store at least once a week.

well, I don't live close enough to go once a week, but it sure saves on shipping...lol..I use pro-mix and you can't even get a bail of that delivered...lol

yea, the place i got this fox farms soil is over an hour away. it's a hydro store but, they carry stuff for soil growers too. it was only $20 for 1.5 cu ft at the store. i found it for about the same online but, the shipping was as much as the soil. i think my next grow i'll try the hempy buckets so i won't need the soil. this summer i plan on growing outdoors and i'll use this soil so i'll definitely get my moneys worth. also, i bought a gallon of FF grow big. you only use 2 tblsp to a gallon of water. that's probably going to last me at least 4 grows i'm guessing.

do you plan on trying other methods of growing? i'll probably lst these plants and scrog the females. next grow will probably be hempy buckets and after that i may try dwc or some form of hydroponics.

Well, my girls will all be LSTed this grow and FIMed. This is my last grow before summer. I quit indoors because of temp problems but int the fall, I'll have several mothers and lots of clones and I will be working a perpetual harvest. I built an aerocloner last summer and used it in the fall but I love the results I get from the complete fox-farm line. Now all I have to do is get more watts of light!!! Heck, every day I see something new I want for my grow!! LOL Keep up the good work and lets see some new pics!!

today i checked on the plants for the first since i repotted into the bags. they're doing great. some are growing alittle taller than the others so i lst'ed them. check it out.

Lookin good there. Make sure to take care when using the fishing line to LST it can easily cut into the soft tissue of the plant. So, when are they going to start flowering?

right now i'm waiting on the light to come in which should be next week. i'm making my own cool tube as well. i havent ordered a fan yet. i'll probably order it this week. when everything comes in i'll go to lowe's and get the duct work and set it all up and probably grow using the mh bulb til week 8 then switch to 12/12 and use hps.

how loud are 80-100 cfm fans? i won't have much duct work to run so i'm thinking 80-100 cfm will move enough air to keep the area cool. i'm going to drill holes in the floor and pump the air out under the grow area.

i was thinking about flowering in week 6 but, the light didnt come in so i decided to lst the bigger plants and wait til week 8. i can still lst when flowering right?

sure..you can continue to LST during flowering just be careful. Another thing that might work good for you is supercropping. I can't bring myself to try it yet but people who use the technique sware by it. Not sure if there is an article on the site about it. If you need more info let me know and I will do my best to get some up for you. As for the fans, they can be pretty noisy unless you insulate them. I used foam...the kind you use for floating floor underlayment, folded up into several layers between the mounting bracket and the 2x4 that it is mounted to to help keep down vibration, but you can find info in the diy section about how to build a insulated box around it to help reduce noise if that is a problem as for the size of the fan, I'm not sure if it is enough since I don't actually know the dememtions of your grow area. To calculate the size you need, you need to figure the cubic footage of your grow space. Your fan needs to be able to move the air in the area to relpace it once every 5 minutes to be affective. so a 100cfm will take care of a 500 cubic foot space.

tomorrow the plants will be 6 weeks old. today i checked on the lst progress and they were doing pretty well. some of the tape i used came undone and the plants started growing up again so i redone all of them w/ some softer string and electrical tape. this time i pulled the base one direction and the tops the other so the plants are still stretched but, they aren't hanging over the side of the bag. i also watered them w/o nutes. unfortunately i forgot my camera. took a few pics with my phone but, the pics didn't come out well. i'll post an update, along with pics, friday. hopefully there will be more tops coming up nicely. we'll see.

here's alittle update and pics as promised. my hps light came in and so did the stuff i bought to make my own cool tube. unfortunately, the fan hasnt come in but it should by next week so i'll be using mh next week and doing away w/ the cfls. here's the pics.

lst is going nicely. some of the plants have 5 tops or more. also, i noticed the stalks have gotten alot thicker in just the last few days.

on the 10th the plants will be 7 weeks old. i may start flowering that week if everything comes in and is setup. i need to order a fan speed controller and i'll have everything setup. i'll prolly try and order one this week and i'll be set. i've got a hydrofarm 95 cfm fan on the way. i'm hoping it's not too loud. i wanna lower the speed to about half that and keep it on with the light cycle. also, i may need to do something about neutralizing odor. not quite sure yet. i'll be pumping air under the grow area so i'm sure the smell will be worse as time goes on. i'll try an intake of fresh air and see if the smell is still as strong.

My suggestion is to go with a can fan that you hook up to your exuast fan. They work pretty good.

well my fan came in today but, i've got work and probably won't be able to set everything up until friday. i did get to feed them. today i think i saturated the soil pretty well. i'm interested in seeing the growth in the next 3 days. tomorrow they'll be 7 weeks old so i may go ahead and switch light cycles when i set up the hps friday. i'll also do alittle more lst and pull the newly formed tops to the side alittle more. i still need to order a fan speed controller. think i'll do that now. anyway, pics will be posted friday.

ok well i went ahead and ordered a fan speed controller. hopefully it'll be in by friday. if not i'll just set everything up and get it ready and when it comes all i'll have to do is plug everything in.

also, i've decided to keep the cfl's on the powerstrip for sidelighting. i need something to cover the bulbs so the plants won't get burnt. does anyone have any ideas for small clear cylinders. i will probably just be using one bulb per outlet instead of using the Y and 2 bulbs. i don't think i trust plastic. i'd hate for it to get hot, melt, and catch on fire. i'll need glass. if someone can provide pics of their cfl sidelight bar w/ covers please do so. i'm open to ideas.

well today was a big day. i got rid of all the cfl's and switched to hps. i made my own cool tube out of a pyrex bake a round and ran all the ducting and wires and set the light up on a timer. everything went smoothly aside from my puking alittle. i was sick today but, still managed to finish the setup and tonite will be their first nite of flowering. i didn't bring my camera but, will post pics friday for sure.

i'm done....at least for now. everything is set up and ready to grow. all the lights are on timers and the fans are on 24/7. still need something for odor control but as for now everything is ok. i went ahead and made little covers for my cfl light bar and put it with the plants for side lighting. i could've waited but, decided to go ahead and get it done. check it out.

i know the pics are kinda dark. i didn't use flash on the camera and it toned down the light from the hps bulb. hoping everything goes well from here on out. i plan on doing something for odor control and also getting another squirrel fan with more cfm. everyone cross your fingers for me and hope for females. also, if you have any advice on pruning or anything let me know.
