We want Easy!

Sorry,
got carried away. I gotta say that I agree with TheNewBreed, we all miss your candid, insightful posts.
I think that most of the "negative experts" have left the forum. Just some die hard fans, and a few well meaning new guys who could use all of your guys help. Hope all is well.

Figured I would put this here. It was in response to a new farmer's post.

Hey man the setup is lookin great! And those are some yummy strains!!

You should see some of the rooms the farmers here have put together, fukin amazing! I think it was easypleasie with the super crazy porn palace grow room, that did it for me!

And Welcome to the farm, its an awesome place to be!

Harvest time

Thanks guys! Yall make my time here at the farm worthwhile and rewarding.

I harvested my two remaining mpb girls! After looking at the roots in the netpots and finding more stem rot, I feel very lucky they made it to the end. They managed to finish the race but they were in last place lol. The damage that was done was irreversible (limited by my experience) and the buds never swelled up like normal...it was almost like the entire plant was popcorn. The stems were hollow and branch strength was crappy at best. The roots actually looked pretty decent and leaf color was normal. The roots didn't smell bad or have any slime on them. Now where the stem was in the coco pots was a different story. I was able to break the main stem right off with just a little twisting...the stench in the coco pot made me ill. One thing to note: If you can easily scratch off the skin at the base of the stalk, then things are too wet.

I'll come back later to comment more but wanted to provide some pics. Rootbound city in the netpots. Those roots should have been in the bin and not wrapping around the netpot. These pics are from the healthiest of the two mpbs girls...the other looked much worse.

I also have a root pic of my white fire that I took down at the same time. She's gonna end up being the heavy yielder in the group...kinda funny cause she's a kush! I'm super pumped about the chow mix and will do an all chow mix run with several different strains.

Easy,
Thanks for posting!

That one girl looks pretty substantial. Not a total loss at least from the rot!
Holy crap! I can totally see how that root mass would plug up a dam, not to mention a netpot.

I want to thank everyone for contributing and following along with my journey. A little anti-climactic on the results but learned a ton in the process. My first leg of the trip is over but the journey continues :) I'll be running chow mix for the next couple runs to find keepers. I'll give the mpbs another go sometime around Winter...unless I change my mind (happens often) and try something else lol.

Alrighty, we have some final numbers. I got a lame ass pound per mpb girl with two lights on each girl.. It's actually more than I was expecting since the buds were so fluffy. I should have been able to pull 2+ (with 2 sides lit) if the plants were healthy. My white fire in chow mix came out to a little over 1.4 lbs...totally stoked and pleasantly surprised since it was my first run in chow mix. She's getting another run for sure and this time i'll give her a little more love.

Good luck to everyone giving the mpbs a try. The mpb rdwc system can work out great if you have the time and money to dial things in.

Also the holes are only in the bottom inch of the pot.

ep, thank you for this thread. you've contributed a LOT of information towards figuring out how best to run these mpb systems.

'sorry it wasn't 3#/plant . . . but i've learned more from your experiences than i would from a "perfect" grow! Thank you.

i guess next run will be with all net netpots? and modification of the topfeed use?

Thanks papa. I plan on using the same netpots since they sit perfectly in the bins. I already drilled holes all up the sides and enlarged the existing holes on the bottom. I was gonna use buckets but they sit to low in the water due to where my drains are. I didn't want to deal with spacers but may consider it when the time comes. I'm not sure what i'm gonna do with the top feed. My coco pots stayed moist even with the top feed cut off. Most likely cause things were so rootbound. I'm considering something other than the coco pots but not sure what yet. I'm gonna follow along with the other mpb'rs to see how their runs go.

I modified my original round mpbs and may experiment with that sometime on a small scale - 1 or 2 plants. I changed to 12" netpots and plan on doing top feed only rdwc....kinda like my veg setup. It's basically krusty style but water line will still be at the bottom of the netpot. I finally get what JK meant with his original post that confused me. Sorry bro!

hey brother, thats why its called your journey in to the MPB's

Chow mix sounds great bro, I would like to see how a lil more hydroton in that mix would work out. how long was your total veg for her. I am doing a 75%perlite25% coco run next, same buckets, same spacing, but putting 2 plants per bucket, one plant facing each light.

I wonder how the yeild would be if you rotated the plants a 1/4th turn everyday or so, I know urbangrower does that

The big girls in the pics above only yielded a pound...Man they look alot bigger than mine...Kinda nervous...

Are those pics of the front of the plants???Do the backs without the light look different????I am sure they do...

Man went back to see how many inches to center you use and found a 55 page thread...How close are those lights to the trees?????

Hope you stick around and show us your progressions with the chow mix....

Thanks for the pics and updates....

Hey dizz, looking forward to your perlite/coco run for sure. I can't recall how long i vegged that white fire for. My current white fire is about the same size and she's been vegging for 6-7 weeks and topped twice. Seems to grow slow at first but once roots get established, they take off quick. Only watering once a day right now. I'm vegging under 600 mh sunpulses so they aren't growing as fast as they could. My 1k makes everything grow faster but it makes the room too hot. I don't know if it's worth the effort to turn plants.

Mc, i've gotten a lb. from that same strain in coco and with light on just the front of the plant. The mpb girls were huge but the buds were all fluff this time. They should have produced a lot more if I didn't get stem rot. I'm really surprised they didn't die like the other two. Yup, those are pics of the fronts. The backs of the plants were bare with no buds. Tons of fluff on the insides which i'm gonna clean up next time.

All the branches were trained around to the sides...problem with that is there wasn't much room for all the branches since they sat in the corners. I think it would be better if they were on just one side wall instead of the corners. I'm gonna mess around with the lights at some point to find out what works better for my space.

40-43" from light to center of stem. I had to tie a lot of the branches back cause they were too close to the bulbs...got a little bit of burning. When they get too close, they block a lot of light and mess with the spread.

Hey easy congrats on making thru to the end of the run, I feel blessed to have pulled off my run given all the constraints and uncertainty. I've noticed there are a few people having problems with the mpb but more specifically it seems with the top feed and over watering. My first run I used 4x4 cubes, plain hydroton, top fed 24/7 and had great results. This run I started in the 6x6 cubes and hydroton, I also have a couple raskal ogs that I transplanted from soil to cocopot to mpb. I have a feeling the 6x6 cubes are too big for a 10" net pot, they simply hold too much moisture. I know dds believes he gets bigger plants from the 6" cubes, but I believe you can still get the same size plant with 4" cubes, it might just take a little longer to veg. I think the more air and space you can provide for root growth in the net pot the better. My early impressions of my cocopot mpb plants are not good. Though they are growing really well and vigorous the roots aren't nearly as white or healthy as my rockwool/hydroton plants. Heres my theory as to why.... I believe since the roots have to travel through the cocopot in order to access the reservoir they are at risk of being weakened as the cocopot naturally decomposes or rots if its being over watered or is sitting in water. I love the idea of cocopots but I dont think Ill be using them in my mpb in the future. Best of luck on the next run! Enjoy the white fire!

You need the 6x6x4 grodan cubes which i was told by MC that they dont hold as much water as the 6" tall cubes... apparently a new design/release. I am having great results with them and will be transplanting into the mpbs thurday night.
