First time growing. I've helped take care of a grow before, but only as a vacation waterer and random helper.

So here are the details.

The environment:
2'x4' MH tent
MH TS2000 light (w dimmer knob)
AC infinity 6" ex fan (vented to lung room currently, though pushing it to other room shortly)
Fan under canopy, above canopy, and above light
Hisense 5L dehumidifier (just added)
~10x10 Lung room (very much not sealed from rest of basement)

The nutrients:
Tap water, PH'd roughly to 6-6.5 on a (once) calibrated bluelab pH pen. :)
FFOF soil
Fox Farms Happy Frog dry amendments (6-4-5) (every 30 days on veg., At about 1/2 - 3/4 recommended dose)
Royal gold crown Jewels Bloom (?-?-?) (Every 10-14 days at about 1/4-3/4 rec. dose.)
2x 5 gallon cloth pots
2x 7 gallon cloth pots

The grow:
homegrowncannabisco seeds
2 outdoor (1 grand daddy purple, 1 lavender)
4 indoor (2 GDP 1 LAV)

So my wife was starting some seeding indoor for a regular garden, and i impulse bought some seeds at a local dispensary, thinking I'll put them outside and see what happens. Rabbit hole entered, equipment above purchased.

My overly ambitious first grow

I started the seeds (6/6 success) in a dry, cold basement, with a heat pad and some shop lights w/grow spectrum bulbs alongside squash, tomato, pepper, bachelor button, and a bunch of random flowers and veggies. I hear these starter pots aren't great, but they worked.

Once the tent arrived, i moved them in and gave them good light. Topped and did lst, but it they were short and bushy to begin with due to, I believe, cold stunting. Or genetics. Or over watering. Or under watering.

Anyway, they returned into this:

Then this:

Flipped to flower after topping and much more aggressive LST than I expected, which resulted in this:

Hated the idea of not being able to moved ants so removed the scrog net after a while. 2 plants also went outside sometime around here in the grow.

Plants continued to grow. A defoliation at flip:

And here we are now. Also, some pics of the 2 outdoor plants.

Currently have my 2 grand daddy purples indoors that have a possible potassium deficiency? But I can't spoil my intro post with those pics.

Sorry, that got lazy. But that's the gist. Comments welcome.

Questions coming, no doubt. :)

Thank you for the replies! I ended up lowering the light intensity to ~75% and made sure they were at about 18" from colas. I thought I was fighting a deficiency but was maybe light stress which caused some nutrient burn?

Anyway. Pics below. I was out of town for 10 days, plant sitters did their job admirably. Defoliated the ugly, crusty leaves.

An update on the outdoor plants. They are big and bushy and beautiful.

The original plan was just to chunk a few in the ground outside, the seeds were an impulse buy at the dispensary. Turned into the above debacle. The outdoor plants look great, some leafhopper (?) damage, though I've not seen one yet. Early training, room to grow, a wet, mild zone 4 spring and early summer, hitting full sun, full heat, and super dry weather for early flower. Just top dressed each with 2 cups of royal gold bloom.

I like you dude, just based on this post alone đź‘Š. Depending on where you live you can prolly tame them back a bit if you weren't planning on letting me get so big. They can get huge. We don't call em "Trees" because they're green.

Some attempted trichome shots, taken with a jewellers loupe and pixel 3, are below. Thoughts welcome as to what you see. Breeder says 1-3 more weeks, fwiw, but more curious about trichome readings than time, if that is even possible with these pics/this setup.

Thanks y'all! Getting excited!

They were topped and trained indoors for about 6-7 weeks. So already managing it, after a fashion. And thank you!

So that trichome picture with the LEDs on the right side I just nominated for POTM because of the composition primarily -- almost comes off as a multiple exposure shot. Really well done and over all your pictures are clearer than most shown on the site. Sounds like your random idea to grow some weed is going to pay off big time. There is something about the color purple...noice.

Do you have cats? I see what look like spider mite web strands.

GDP!!! Cool! I did a grow with a GDP hybrid. It was GDP x Purple Erkle x TK91

Nice Job!

I definitely have cats. I have a heart attack every time I see one of their hairs. I need a panty-hose filter on my passive intake. Good looking out, thanks!

And the GDP was just a random choice. No real clue what i was looking for when I grabbed these seeds. :). Nice plants tho.

cats will eat the spiders if they're hungry enough

Trichome pics below, taken with the cheap Amazon wifi microscope. Excuse the possible cat hairs.

Also, one plant has developed fungus gnats. I'm wondering if I should harvest early, or ride it out, based on pics below. I see plenty of cloudy, some amber?

Thoughts please! :)
