Hey, everybody! Need some advice from an experienced grover. I am trying to make a sketch of a suitable ventilation for a grow room. It is necessary to do everything in such a way to get rid of the smell of plants. The grow room itself is not small enough and is being prepared for the planting of 75 autoflowering cannabis varieties. The budget allows me to do everything perfectly, but I can't figure out how to choose a filter and what kind of filter it should be or how many of them are needed for so many plants. In any case, would be glad to have your help!

How big is your grow space? The cubic footage will dictate what size and how much ventilation you need. While you can definitely reduce the smell a lot, getting rid of the smell of 75 plants completely is not going to be easy.

The room is 30 meters square. It's going to be calculated: 9 pots per one meter square, pots of 11 liters each. That is, 10-12 meters square will be allocated purely for grow, and the rest of the space can be separated for drying, etc.
Cultivation will be under LED-lamps and additionally it will be possible to hide the odor by the fact that above the growroom there will be a paint booth, where they will use car paint for other things.

OK, 30 meters sq doesn't tell me enough to figure the cubic footage, but you want enough ventilation to completely replace the air in the space within 5 minutes. Roughly 30 sq meters x height in meters x 27 (27 sq feet in a cubic yard, a little more than that in meters) will give you CU footage). You'll need some serious ventilation.

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure where that number 27 comes from? I must have overlooked something. The ceiling height is approximately 2.5 meters.

You’re looking at about 2600 cubic feet. 27 is the conversion of a square yard to sq feet(3x3x3). I’m in the US, so I don’t use meters.

I get it. What do you think about an air ozonator to further dampen the odor of cannabis?

Don’t really know anything about them, though ozone isn’t real effective at removing odors, and it’s not good for plants (or mammals).

@GrowM -

30 square meters is equal to 323 square feet. For seventy-five plants, that's 4.3 square feet per plant without allowing much room for anything else. It's doable, but seems like it'd be tight with so many plants.

Will fresh air be brought in from the outside?

I have no idea. AFAIK, carbon filters are the most effective.

To completely recycle the air in that grow space every 3-5 minutes you’ll need a fan that moves between 500 and 900 cu ft./minute (approximately).

If it is too crowded, you can put not 75, but say for example 60 plants. And yes, we plan to arrange everything so that fresh air can come in from outside.
