**First off, sorry if this has already been posted/covered. If so please provide a link or something as I'm genuinely curious about topic above! And second, sorry for making such long questions.. not intentional I swear lol**

So long story short, got a case alf aphids and such, first time since starting this wicked awesome hobby lol. Didn't pay enough attention when bringing in a clone from a friend, and now month or so later, aphids everywhere. So, started with dish soap and just water mixed as a foliar spray. Made some progress.. then tried dish soap and cooking oil mixed with water. And am also seeing a huge decrease! And just to add some background info.. always sprayed plant, and then either let drip dry or would spray little before lights out. Always avoided direct light afterwards. Have been trimming throughout to help fight infestation. But went out and got some Neem oil to help as well. But am genuinely curious which would be more beneficial in this instance(just pests, no sort of mold or anything like that) Neem oil or Insecticidal Soap? As crazy as it probably sounds(after spraying just regular ol cooking oil and dish soap..) I'm somewhat nervous about the Neem oil, as I've read and seen quite a few cases where it ended up killing the plant entirely.. granted, some were results of not shaking bottle, or being put in light right after spraying, etc.. Just wicked nervous about losing this plant, since I no longer have clones or seeds for this particular strain anymore. Is there a certain method people use with the Neem oil? I.e. wipe clean after, spray down after, let sit for few hours/days. Again, sorry for bringing up a topic I'm sure has been brought up tons of times. Just really looking for specific details on the comparison and also process, so I can avoid hurting the plant in any way. Thanks in advance!!

Neem oil is nasty. Don't like it. Insecticidal soap takes a lot of application. Canola oil based Insecticide leaves a residue. The doom bombs are explosive. De is labour intensive. Sulphur sprays sort of work. And CO2 saturation can take weeks. Of those choices. I'd say soap. Less nasty.

Yea you ain't kidding about the nasty part... I ended up giving my plant a good spray down with the Neem oil and was NOT expecting the smell🤢 I ended up getting the Bonide Captain Jack's Neem Oil(RTU) and was as light on the coverage as possible, while still making sure every leaf/branch got completely covered. I was kinda dumb for not waiting a few more hours, since lights don't go out till 11🤦‍♂️ but currently have it sitting outta the grow area to dry. Part that really confuses me tho, is the amount of forums and comments I've read.. and have some people say to leave it on the plant, others who say rinse the plant. Have also read to keep it away from light for like 2-3 days 🤨 and then also that it can go back under light within an hour of spraying... I know every case/person is different. Just not sure which way to go😂 trying to be as overly cautious as possible with this plant and trying to really take my time to make sure I don't miss anything or skip on something that'll bite me in the long run(ahh pun intended, get it.. bite..bugs..🤦‍♂️I need a life 🤣) but seriously appreciate the input already, always welcome to learning new things in this process!

Neem oil seems to work the best for me on just about any pest. It is not difficult to use. Mix per directions on bottle. Spray with lights off - wait to dry - maybe 30 minutes. Spray again in 3 days and then again in another 3 or 4. Have tried insecticidal soap with little luck - maybe you just have to keep spraying it. Green cure for powdery mildew - neem for bugs.

I'll go for neem before spinosad, just because spinosad is The Kabash. Alternating between neem, homemade pesticide (google it, there are dozens of recipes), and spinosad is a surefire way to ensure whatever you're fighting doesn't develop a tolerance. I'd hate to lose the ability to use spinosad though, so it's the last ditch effort. Neem sucks, though. Hate the smell, it's toxic to pollinators, and if you apply it during the day it'll cook your plants. That being said, I use all the above on more than cannabis with great success when needed.

Another option is neem cakes. Since neem is systemic, having it in your media (soil, i'd never put that shit in a hydro res) it can have just as much effect as spraying it with that foul, sweet, shit sour mash whiskey smell.

Oh wow, I didn't know those were a thing! Will definitely look into them for sure!

Havent tried spinosad but I can say without the shadow of a doubt that dry neem watered into the soil, and then a light foliar spray made from dry neem and water at a very VERY DILUTED ratio helped me and my lil lady 10000000000% ....i legit watched my soil move in an aloe plant i kept in the tent, a few made it over to my prized plant, long story short im not sure if I won the war but i absolutely won the last battle. No more bugs at all and I had two different types of pests. Gnats and aphids.

If applied as foliar, I STRONGLY SUGGEST A SHADE CLOTH, that way it can be added an hr or so before lights off without torching your leaves, then a few hrs later when lights come back on, I rinse the neem off and make sure theres no oily residue. 48 hrs later i repeated and it worked wonders but it does also need to be applied into soil to kill whats down there.

The smell is a small price to pay inorder to get rid of bugs thatll fuck your crop up.
