new at growing

Started growing a single plant, and it is about 6 inches tall. I have a full-spectrum light on it for about 16 hours a day, and i mist it 4-5 times a day. The plant fans so far only have 3 leaves. Is it too early to tell if it is male and won't create buds?

Much too early to determine sex unless it is an auto or a feminized seed. Once the plants have grown a little, changing the light period to 12/12 will allow the plant to show it's sex. This is about the only way to do it without getting into complicated issues, which as a new grower, aren't recommended yet.
