I noticed when the ballast switch is turned off the light stays on. When I turn power on to 0 strength it stays dark. Weird.

If everything is properly grounded with your house plug. I would take a short video of what’s going on and send it to this address.

Thanks, i have the video, sent it to the company i bought the tent kit from, they said its normal. Sending email now, just for 2nd opinion. Yep.. properly grounded.

Let us know what Mars has to say @growmie I have a new FC3000 and noticed the same thing. I am wondering if it has something to do with the ability to connect and control the light through the Mars app or another controller?

I just bought the AC Infinity adapter to connect the light to my 69Pro controller. I noticed when goofing around with it, as soon as I connected the cable, the light shut off. I was wondering if it has to be in the "off" position (that seems to turn on at full power with my light) in order to control it through the app?

Thanks for posting and please keep us updated with what you hear!

Spoke to them. Here's how it works. When you use the dimmer knob to turn off there is 2 options.

1 says OFF (to get into off mode, turn the knob to where it says off. you WONT feel a click, but the lights will go off) <--- this is the correct setting for OFF.

1 says EXT (when you turn the knob to this setting, you will feel the knob click- this doesn't shut the light off. it does exact opposite and makes the light full power with no dimming option) (for external lights/daisychain)

Mars-Hydro support is excellent. Quick to reply & resolve. Amazing.

Note: if your light is in off mode, it shouldnt turn on when plugged in. IF your light is in EXT mode, and you plug the light in, it will turn on Full power.

I didnt see it at first.

The "Ext" probably is short for "external" control. The light would turn off if a controller were attached and was set to off. Some of my lights have a separate Ext switch instead of putting it on the power knob.

@growmie - Plan for vertical space. If 30" is the distance from the top of the plant to the light, and 24" is the height of the plant, and another 12" is the height of the pot, then that's 66" or 5 1/2 feet. If that tent is 72" high, then there's only 6" left for everything else. Certainly, there's not enough space for a fan and filter. For that reason, many folks place their fan outside the tent and attach the light to the top.

My old 3' x 3' x 8' Gorilla with HLG lighting. Soon to be replaced with a 4' x 4' x 8' and keep the same lighting. If you can move the exhaust fan outside the tent. Better to do it now then wait. Put three 6" fans in the tent. One in the grow area, one between the plants and light and one above the light. Don't see any controls. Do yourself a favor and get some way to control the exhaust fan. It does not have to run 24/7. Mine come on at a 80f and also high humidity. Have a small humidifier that is controlled by a Inbird unit. Inkbird can also control a heater or A/C if needed.

Good Luck!

This first run/grow will be autoflower. Do you really think they will stretch that high? I may try LST. I do have a smart controller for the inline fan. It's a knob that allows you to control the speed of the inline fan., or to power it off. I have to add the humidifier today and put soil in the pots.

DAY 0

Just sowed 2 seeds. My tap water pH is 8.5, way high, had to use pH down. Humidifier is self controlled. has tent sensor for RH/temp, it will reach a set % then shutoff. The lights are on a timer. ppfd is set to 255. RH set to 65%, temp 77F. Once i see green ill turn the light on. I'm not using a plastic cup as a dome. I planted the seeds, threw some dirt over it, made it damp, should see something in 2/3days. Using ocean forest organic soil 75% bottom happy frog, 25% on top. So bout 2 to 3" of happy frog on top, the rest ocean forest.

Yeoh, i need a controller. and more 6" fans

The older light have a separate switch to bypass the dimming switch for full power only.

Very good explanation you have given on how the “ext” works the same.

Glad the link worked well for you. It has for the few issues I have seen.

Enjoy and good luck with the set up.

No contoller , just a beefed up timer as I have had 1 fire and won’t have another.
Not that it was a timer , but I don’t play games with bigger lights and chit timers.
Yea i grabbed a smoke detector and fire extinguisher just in case. Where was ur fire at the socket? or did equipment short? how many watts were ur lights?
