Hello everyone, as the title suggests I'm newer to this and any and all tips and tricks would be great. I've got a couple what I believe to be of the Runtz strain plants and Ive topped both of them unfortunately one of the tops fell victim to my cat who loves the stuff as much as I do 🤣🤣. Anyway the other top I just took and stuck straight into the ground and now my hairs have turned like it's ready to be harvested. Does this mean the top is no longer going to take and I'm just waiting my time trying to nurture it back to life lol? I'm uploading a few pictures of what Im currently dealing with so any and all feedback /constructive criticism etc will be appreciated. Also I'm doing everything in soil for now, when I'm more familiar I will beging a hydro setup

Howdy!

At least you can blame your cat! I broke the top off an auto 2 weeks ago because I was trying to garden while being sick and rundown. 🤪

Sticking the top in soil likely isn't going to work.

Give us a synopsis of your grow... Growing medium, watering practices, nutrients, etc.

At a glance, your plant looks overwatered a bit, but not sure about that without some details.

Being is this is my first true grow I am just basically sitting back I mist the plants daily I water them like every third to fourth day I checked the soil to make sure it's not too wet when I do go to water them I put plant feed sticks in both of the pots I mean I'm literally pretty much brand new to this like I said I have no idea what I'm doing but I have enough of an idea to get myself in trouble. They're growing in organic potting mix and I'm just letting them do there own thing I guess you could say. I go out every morning like clockwork and check on them, talk to them, whisper sweet sweet tunes in their buds. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. My biggest question I guess you could say is why did they go from showing true female characteristics to what looks to be hermies characteristics. I live in Florida btw if that helps at all. I'll post current pics of them along with what I've used

One other thing I forgot to add was early on I was having a lot of trouble with caterpillars and that's inside of a screened enclosure as well so I did spray the plants lightly with neem oil

You don’t seem real clear on what the seeds were! If they were autos, they will flower on their own and so will the clones. If they are photos, they can flower if you put them out too early, if the hours of light are too short, and the hours of dark are too long! Hard to tell from the pictures, whether there are any balls! But it looks a little suspicious! Welcome!

Both seeds came from Runtz dispensary bud that's all I know. I didn't purchase specific seeds I just found them in some nug I bought so yeah I'm not 100% as to what they are EXACTLY

Also as far as light goes they're all natural sunup to sundown no artificial light

I love surprises! 😁

Here's a couple update photos of the current condition of my hopefully ladies šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž also should I move them to bigger pots?

Well, they're flowering and that's not the time to transplant unless a dire emergency exists, and that doesn't seem to be the case here. It is uncertain if you are growing an auto, or a photo that was placed outside too early, like @Oldchucky mentioned.

If it were me, I would just ride this one out and endeavor to start a new grow with all the lessons that you're learning from this one. Obviously, you do not have to wait for this plant to finish before starting again, unless time or space constraints exist.

Here's a great resource to do some reading and learning:

In the meantime, stop misting your plants. That's not necessary at this age. Misting is for fresh cuttings, and possibly very young seedlings that are not in the most correctly adjusted environments.

Overwatering is probably the most common mistake for new growers! Most will tell you to saturate the pots completely until about 10% runs out of the bottom. Then let them dry back until they are very lightweight. Best thing to do is to saturate to 10% runoff, pick up the pots and feel how heavy they are. Then as the days go by, pick up the pots daily and get a feel for how they are becoming lighter. There will be a day when you pick up the pot and it will feel very lightweight, and that's the day you water again. Obviously if you notice some wilting, then it is definitely time to water. 😁 Take a moment to consider your water source. Is it a municipal water source? Best practice for that is to fill up your watering can or bucket, and let it sit for a good 24 hours for the chlorine to evaporate off.

Have a look around the farm here, and do some reading online and get a feel for the types and brands of soils that people like to use (If soil is your thing), the nutrients that they prefer (organic or synthetic), and come up with a basic plan for your next grow.

Finally, when you're ready to start your new grow, start a grow journal or diary here in the appropriate sub forum. There are a lot of experienced growers here who would love to help you plan and execute your next grow, giving you a much bigger chance for success, and of course, gaining more knowledge.

Thanks man appreciate all that and I'll definitely keep an eye on the water situation (reclaimed water) and inside growing is t an option for me currently and unfortunately. I'm working on getting my 10x10 shed setup for the next grow. Also I do believe one of my biggest mistakes with this one was not keeping track of absolutely everything but as I said huge learning curve and definitely lesson learned I will definitely be going through all of the forums and reading up on as much as I possibly can for all of this and when I do start a new one I will post in a new forum and get all the feedback from you guys as possible...speaking of imma go start some water now to sit and see if that makes a difference next time

10-4!

Everyone will tell you, after years and even decades of growing we are all still learning and doing some really dumb shit from time to time! 🤣

Lol I get that I do dumb shit everyday ngl. But I have one last question. Is there anything I can do to increase my yield this time around like getting lights and giving them more hours of light or vice versa? Because I can move them to my shed and setup lights if that will help

Proper amount of light, water, nutrients, and environment will help it from here to the finish line, but it won't necessarily turn it around into a stellar plant. Not knowing if it's a regular or photo makes it harder to nail down the right amount of light per day, but you can try 12 on 12 off in case it's a photoperiod. Any more than 13 hours on per day will make it re-vegetate if it's a photo.

So then I should just leave it alone then I guess seeing how I've no clue if it's photo or auto. How long does the flowering phase usually last because it's been doing this now for 3weeks at least lol and very very minimal bud as you can see in the pics.

Anywhere from 8 weeks to 14 weeks, depending on the cultivar. That's indoor numbers... Outdoor (photoperiod plants) can go until mid November! Yours won't because it started so early, but you have no reference, so you're along for the ride I'm afraid.

It gets natural sunlight? Is it night where you are for 12 hours. It's flowering. If it's an auto, it flowers by itself. For photos 12 hours darkness will trigger it.

If it's inside your house not in an enclosed area I would assume you may have light leaks that can screw up flowering.

I'm still learning as well and practice helps. With each grow you learn more. My first attempt was a mess lol.
