Ok, first time growing and I clearly don’t know what the hell I’m doing. And honestly, I didn’t expect the learning curve to be very steep with all the YouTube resources available. The deets: bought feminized seeds from Pacific Seed Bank. Purple Trainwreck, O for 3. Float method, paper towel soak, combo of both, seeds never did their thing. However, my Green Crack and Northern Lights, different story. Popped right up, green and leggy right about the time I got my ac infinity 3x3 tent. All went south for these two young ladies when I transferred them to their 5 gal cloth pots. Filled with 50/50 mix of Happy Frog (Fox Farms) soil and my own backyard compost. Thought it would help nutrients. My tomatoes sure like it. 4 days of consistent 80 degree F and 50% humidity and I notice some leaning, wilting, and evidence of bugs. Per wife’s advice, I gently sprayed with water/Dawn dish soap/canola oil (just a few drops) and put some diatomaceous earth on top of the soil. Did this for 2 days. Two weeks in the tent and all I can say is they’re not dead yet. Advice for next time welcome. I’m suspecting soil pH or too much light/to close???

when you buy soil from the stores it contains nutes to provide a normal sized plant for 2 weeks as far as im aware. this is a hard case of nute burn, id flush flush flush!! and only feed water until or if it recovers. also make sure you dont overwater. i find less is always better. i grow in coco coir/perlite mix and even use water some days if the plants are looking nice and green.

also those leaves wont recover but the new growth is what its all about.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
What are you using for a light? I'm thinking you have burned the plant with the light.
Back the light off as far as you can. Seedlings are super easy to burn with LED lights.
Dawn is ok for ducks not for plants. Use insecticidal soap if you have to spray.

I'd say scrap this plant and crack another seed.
Happy frog and compost a.
Welcome to the wonderful world of organic living soil.
The missing link is this. No matter what you put in the soil a plant cannot eat it.
It must first pass threw the microbial life in the soil order to be available food for the plant.
Please watch this video.
Now you can make a small batch.
You can boil 1 potato in a liter of rain water. When cooled down blend it and dump it in a coffee can, add a handful of soil from your garden and filled it with rain water and mix well. Set it in the sun for a day. No bag just let it cook. Then strain it into a can and water your plant 10 water 1 microbe solution water well.
Really give the bag a soaking with this.

So take 2 L water add 2 cups of Microbe solution
Give the plant a good soaking with this solution from day 1

When you feel like she needs nitrogen. Use the best compost you have or some of the leftover potting mix and do this with a little fish emulsion. Then water with microbe solution.

This will get you growing. Will check back with you and see how your doing.Ron

I agree here flush those puppies out. Lots of water through them they are overdosing right now. They are not dead tho! They can bounce back. I’d flush flush flush then after let them dry out and give plain water to them. Once the new growth gets nice and developed cut that dead shit off it’s just draining plant energy.

And your going to spend the next month trying to save a sick plant that will likely never be worth the time and energy.
Chuck it and start with a fresh seed. Better yet. Keep it and start a fresh seed. The new plant will blow right buy it. In 30 days the new seed will be ready to flip this plant will be just well maybe looking better.

Alright! Compared to the nute isle at the local garden center with the employee who has no idea what “those three numbers” mean, this speaks to me! And correct me if I’m wrong (please), but I’m thinking that flushing with this tea/extract should completely rejuvenate my current 5 gal cloth pots currently filled with my “tainted” soil/compost. Will be trying this very soon.

Something is very wrong. I'd really dig in to find out what went wrong so it doesnt happen again. Planting a new seed is NOT a good idea unless you change your game plan.

My bet is root rot or something is way off in the root zone. PH? And lastly, this looks like a classic case of overwatering. My bet, the roots are a mushy brown mess. Have a look at the roots and learn so that it doesnt happen again. Then plant a new seed

from my experience every seed is completely different, if you dont believe me i can show you 10 plants right now in flower same strain same time germ, that 1 is almost 3 ft and my smallest under a ft. trust me that seed quality matters ahah, but there is 110% to much nitorgen in that soil for this plant here so the seed wont do shit your right but it does matter.

Good stuff, I cant argue with you there, it is very possible it is a bad seed, I have one growing now that is struggling while two are doing great... It could be lots of things ( thats whats intersting about this hobby)

My point was that if the same growing procedures are used on a new seed, the problem may/will come back. An example would be overwatering, something that almost all new growers struggle with. (even when they think they arent )....

If I were to bet money, that plant was overwatered and isnt healthy in the root zone. I'd take it out of the pot and have a look at the roots to learn from for the next grow.

oh no no im agreeing with you here i think that the seed isnt the problem, but im just sayin and sounds like you know what i mean by the seed :P

honestly this ones a small girl so you could pull her out and start again just dont give them as many nutes, for the first 2 weeks of seedling life they dont actrully need fert. when you give them fert give them 1/4 of the dosage that the bottle recommends, if leaves go abit light green or even yellow give her some nitrogen, if your growing in coco just remmember calmag

50% humidity for seedlings and vegetative stage is too low. Needs to be higher especially if your Temps are 80F. They are transpiring too fast and drying up. Light is probably too close. They don't need a lot of light in the first couple weeks.

Also want to note that using compost from your backyard can introduce bugs and other nasty crap that can mess them up. It can be that too. Could be too hot.

Best compost is Earthworm and Rabbit Shit.

You can buy Rabbit shit on Ebay or Etsy. It's chock full of NPK and micronutrients.
I mix Earthworm and Rabbit shit together along with Phosphorus based Bat Guano, Crab meal and Kelp meal. 2 to 3 cups of organic amendments per 7 gals.

Dolomite lime, Basalt or Granite Dust, Gypsum for Calcium and Sulfur, oyster shell flour and soft rock Phosphate. 4 cups per 7 gallons of soil mix

I have a pet rabbit and just cleaned her cage. I took a few handfuls of poop (the dry ones that havent been peed on) crushed it up with a knife and it looks just like soil ! Im nervous about pests, so I put the chopped manure in a mason jar and added boiling water. Poop tea, yummy.

Im not sure how to use it, but I thought Id start off slow and add it in a similar way that you would use Fox Farm Big Bloom (a kind of organic tea) We'll see how it goes, I'll be watering with it tonight after it cools off. Curious to see what the PH and PPM's are in my tea..

Don't put it in boiling water. That kills the beneficial bacteria in the manure.

Also there's no issues with bugs or parasites with rabbit shit. Now pig shit yes I wouldn't use it cause of parasites

Rabbit shit doesn't need composted before use. You can just scratch it into the top of the dirt. If you're going to make it like a tea just mix it with non chlorinated water and water it in.
