I put my plants into net pots 3 weeks ago when the showed roots sticking out of their starter plugs. I have three out of five are showing growth (more than two sets of true leaves) but I have no roots showing.

I started six. Two days ago I took one plant (a probable cull) out of the hydroton to see what was going on with its roots. It had several short (1/4”) white roots sticking out out of the peat moss starter unit. So I’m guessing something like that or better is going on with the healthier plants.

But I still have zero roots showing. My water level doesn’t reach the bottom of my net pots but the bubbles from the air stones are keeping the bottoms of the net pots wet. I have been top watering between 150 ml - 300 ml a day from the solution tanks.

This is my sixth grow in the last six years (my schedule limits me to one crop a year). I don’t recall a start this slow before and in the past I have not run my water this high in the tanks.

I’m using the 3 part GHC nutes plus GHC Cal-magic. I also use Flying Skull z-7. I’m running at 570 ppm and try to keep my ph as close to 6.0 as I can get. I check pH daily and adjust if it goes below 5.7 or above 6.2.

What is going wrong?

Hey FLLW.....I'm not the one to ask, nor tell, so I'll leave it at that.....🧐🙄

I've only run the Kratky Method of Hydroponics, so......

As long as there were roots when you put them in hydrodon clay balls, make sure the bottom layer of pebbles are getting wet.....

Once the roots find the solution in the container, lower the solution height as desired.....

Hope this helps till others chime in......

So much empty
Wish I could help but I am much more basic with my propagation since I do my growing in living soil. once I see roots popping out the bottom of the rockwool I plant it in nutrient rich soil and they are happy for that first taste of real food. Usually takes a full month for me to see the roots protruding. With hydro I would assime you gradually introduce the nutes when they are first fed but again not in my wheelhouse. I may try it at some point but I get good results growing outdoors in soil bags year round.
