hello everyone. first time poster and grower :)

i wanted to ask something about making a nutrient batch.
the bottle and guides all say for example 2ml/gal, but i dont know if this is a total of 2ml x 7 for 7galon dwc bucket or 2ml x 3 for my 3 galon jug i use for mixing the nutrients ?
how i do things now is i add 2ml x 7 in a 3 gallon jug and then poor it in my dwc bucket to hit my target ppm.

i think i did something wrong bc one of my 2 plats was stunt for a week and is much smaller than the other one.
it stunted at the same time i saw this and i added some calmag( i run RO water ).

Not sure im doing it right

Welcome to the Farm!!

The plant looks 99% healthy so don't rush into any adjustments just yet. When you're mixing concentrated batches like that there's 2 important things to remember.

1. Make sure to add the cal/mag to the water first or it could precipitate out of solution into solid little salt chunks.

2. You must test the pH of the reservoir last after you've hit the ppm goal and adjust it from there, not the concentrated solution.

My apologies if you're already aware of these things! Good luck and check back in with your progress!

I add my cal/mag after parts a and b but before stage specific nutrients and then additives.

* I don't use R/O water though so that may make a difference.

thanks :) and thanks for the reply.
i'm aware of the order and the PH balance at the end :)
i'm just dont really know if i mix the nutrients for the 7gallon bucket or the 3galon jug i make it in.

Mixing in a 3 gal. Bucket is fine. I do similar for my 50 gal. res.

Don't overthink it. The bottle labels don't know in which size containers you're mixing. So, it basically means 2ml per gallon. If you have 7 gallons of water, then you're adding 7x2ml... 14ml in that 7 gallons of water.

thnks for the reply.
sorry for al the questions but i have another one :p
i have 2 plant both 7 gallon so if i make a pre made batch of nutrient juice in a 3 gallon bucket do i ad 17x2ml ?
i should explain i want to have a pre made nutrient solution in a 3 gallon jug, bc i dont always drain my whole 7gallon if the water is clear and roots look good if the ppm is dropping then i just want to top aff with water/H2o2/epsomsalt and add nutrient solution to reach target ppm.

i dont know if this is a good method but ive seen growers do this and get healty results, and it saves on water xD.

i'ms sorry for the bad english i'm from europe :p

If you mix 7x2ml into a 3 gallon bucket of water, you will be at 2.33 times your intended solution strength.

For me, if I were looking to top off a reservoir of *any* size (assuming everything else regarding the reservoir contents are acceptable), I would test both pH and EC first to determine exactly what I need to add back into it. This would mean that every top off is different (based on need, and not a standardized mix of nutrients).

So, if the desired reservoir solution strength is X, then the top off solution should accommodate that to get back to X.

In my ebb and flow systems, I never amended my reservoirs 30 to 75 gallons), I always drained and remixed a fresh one at the appropriate times as figuring out ratios to amend it (with a target in mind) would be a lot of work for little gain. Much easier to dump, fill, mix, and go on about my day.

Hopefully some DWC peeps we can come in here and give better insight and knowledge.

thanks that already helpfull :)
so if you say 2.33 time the strenght you mean its 2.33 times to high ?
and how do i know how to adjust my premix feeding juice based on PH and EC ? i know that if the PH is rising that the plans is taking up the nutrients, and if the PH drops it takes more water and i should not feed extra nuts, is this right ?

When adding water to my resevoir I only add parts A, B and Cal/Mag
Additives are only added when I do a total res. change on a weekly basis.
Once water and nutrients are added to my res. Then I take a ph measurement, and adjust to proper range depending on stage of plant.
Veg to day 21 of lights 12/12, I ph to 5.7 to 5.8
Early flowering nutrients i ph to 5.9 to 6.0
Late flowering I ph to 6.1 to 6.2
PPMs i measure at this time. The only addative i use is Cal/Mag so my PPMs run between 450 to 600 PPMs
Hope that helps

If u mix in a 3 gallon bucket u add nutrients for 3 gallon I assume when u change u dump 2 bucket in ur 7 gallon tank

I run 5 separate 5gallon buckets no reservoir I mix 4 gallons of nutrient water I change every week when I put on the lid om right where it needs to b I have added mid week of I knew I would be late changing o would mix 4 gallons of nutrients and split it between the 5 buckets

what i did yesterday is that i had 3 gallon bucket and mixet nutrients for 7 gallon in that 3 gallon bucket and then i add bit by bit to my 7gallon bucket until i reached 400-500 ppm so i did not use all of the nutrient mix. but this gave me a whole new problem today i cant find anything on what could cause this to happen :/ did i over feed them or is it something els? i wil put pictures of the plants.
