Yeah, that's a really dense canopy. I would start by lollipopping everything on the bottom third (half?) of the plants, to improve airflow in general, and so your plants aren't wasting energy growing stuff that's not going to make it to the show.

Second week of flower? Do you mean two weeks since the light changed to 12/12? After two weeks I would expect to see the stretching nearly complete and some budding beginning.

It's starting of my second week switching 12/12... sorry for confusion, is this not classed as second week of flower ?

Most people call it Flower for record keeping, which is fine but for me the first 3 weeks from flipping to 12/12 is what I call the transition period because that's exactly what the plant is doing during that time, transitioning from veg to flower.

What strain?
Trying to figure out why they're so compact.
How were you running your light during veg?
Wondering if a little less light during veg would of let them grow taller/stretch a little bit for more node spacing.
Adding more red light during veg can help plants stretch more.

Dont wait to long to start defoliating. You don't want to do anything major past the end of week 3.
If you're on week 2 now, I would defoliate asap and that will give them 1 week to recover and a chance to defoliate a little more during week 3 again.

Your good! People like to over complicate stuff. I keep it bone idle simple. Once a seed breaks dirt it's in veg. Once I flip lights it's in flower. Once a auto shows bud sites it's in flower. It's just a over worshiped weed that folks have to make special through words and action.... lololol

How much defoliating should I be doing ? I'm scared I'll take the wrong leaves away etc ?

Min bottom 1/3 as posted already. Then imagine a circle on the canopy in the middle of the canopy and pull some of the larger fan leafs so air can move up through the plants. There are thousands of vids on defoliating out there on YouTube.

I actually use seedling, veg, transition, flower, ripen, harvest.
Not because they're fancy words but because I use different techniques, nutrient mix, etc for those different periods of growth and I like to keep detailed logs of that stuff so I can reference them later and see what worked and didn't work during those periods of the plants life.

I think the member that asked 2 weeks of flower or 2 weeks from flip asked because the advice given at 2 weeks from flip will be different from 2 weeks of actually flowering (4-5 weeks from flip).

I use the categories of grow around noobs because they do need to learn how you change around within the growth cycle. But around my peers and friends we never talk in such micro managed terms. And over all I haven't truly logged a grow in 20 years or better. But with how weed is kind of a shit show now days with all the hybrid crap no two plants really grow the same anymore. Hell it's hard for me to keep up with my diarys here because all grows are basically the same now and it all just runs together.

Perhaps, but I was simply seeking clarification. It could be that some people like to over-complicate stuff, indeed.

As you can see, there are divergent opinions. I'm of the opinion that roughly the first two weeks after the flip is a transition period, as @Newty said. During that time, the plants still need as much nitrogen as they do during the vegetation stage. That's because they can "stretch" as much as 2 or 3 times their height before the flip. Near the end of the stretch, they start showing pistils and growing buds, that is, they're entering the flowering stage. I was wondering why I couldn't see much stretch. (My eyesight isn't great, though.)

I don't do much defoliation, but in this case, it probably would help. It needs to be done soon, however. They don't create many new leaves or stem growth once they're in full flower. Flowering is their priority at that stage. I'd probably start by removing fan leaves growing directly from stems and see how they respond. During flowering, they'll need less nitrogen and more phosphorus and potassium.

Otherwise, they look healthy. Out of curiosity... What are the humidity and temperature? How much light are you giving them?
