By the time the mums are ready they'll be re vegged, there's only 1ft of space and a cup of nutrient needed to maintain them to the point you know what you're keeping, if anything?

I don't want to go, I feel like im going on now but the aforementioned pheno hunting tips get brought together with 12-12 from seed to veg/sex and 11-13 to flower, that brings the whole pheno hunting business to a new level of efficiency i didn't think was doable for a mere mortal 😄

When you get going and the gears are all meshing 6 maybe 7 crops a year from seeds is doable (with wiggle room lol) if you've a separate drying space?
You might be thinking nah not from seed and that's fair but there's some considerations to, well consider lol

From 12-12 @wk4 they're already sexed there's no transition time, then changing to 11-13 speeds up the onset into flowering therefore crops finish quicker, between the time gained at 0 transition and with 11-13hrs it brings down flowering on average to 7/8 wks (fully matured!)


Plus you already have your next crop to go in and keep monster clones on ice!

Pheno hunting isn't about yeild so I opted for two plants per pot.

Basically nothing changed except 100% more plants, this normally wouldn't be ideal but 11-13 encourages shorter more compact plants so they make better neighbours.

I've Flowered circa 60 plants in my last 3 crops that's more than in the 2yrs previously growing in the regular way, not surprisingly I've landed more good phenos since starting this technique, I'm racing through my seed collection.

Absolutely @figolus 12-12 from seed is amazing!
I love it enough I bought another clone tent and 4x t5s purely for vegging my seeds with, 12-12 from seed has given me an epic renewed enthusiasm for growing with it being that much easier to manage and cheap as chips to veg,
4x t5s only cost £2.10 a week to run 😄

Anyone growing more than 1 plant in a confined space it's well worth considering, ime vegging with 18/24hrs nearly always worked against me, plants were too big then too wide when/if I tied them so no matter what it limited how many plants I could grow.

This also allows you to have several different strains, I also have two boxes, but I don't know yet what to do with the second one, clone, mother plant, scrog 😁 I'll see in due time. For the moment I have my sativas in one and in the other my skunk#1 I'll see when I transfer the sativas into the big box.

I think I'm going to construct a couple 6" deep shelves that runs the back and an adjacent side of my 5x5 flower chamber to accommodate 1 gallon pots for 12/12 from seed. It wouldn't be in the way and can reach to/from it easily. My light is big enough and high enough, and 6" shelves won't cast much of a shadow at all. Gives me a perfect place under the shelves for T5 bulbs if I want to put 16 more 1 gallon pots on the floor, or 40 solo cups, or... 🫠🤯

But, I would have at least 16 pots in which to germinate, sex, and flower smaller plants. I still need my 4x2 to be on a veg light cycle and that won't change. 👍🏻
