My very first car was a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am. I absolutely love 3rd Gens. Big fan of 1st/2nd as well. Almost had an identical blue colored, 79 T/A, but the guy I was going to buy it from was T-boned in an intersection on his way to meet me. Fate said I could not have that car :*(

I was big into the thirdgen(dot)org forums back in the early 00's, used to hang with a lot of the NW Indiana/Chicagoland 3rd gen crew. That forum is mostly dead now but it's still online.

Fun fact: I no longer own a 3rd gen, unfortunately. I do, however, have all the ingredients to soup one up if I ever find one worth buying, again. I've got a 700R4 with Corvette servos and a shift kit, a disc brake 9 bolt Borg Warner rear end, and complete TPI setup including computer/wiring harness just collecting dust in my garage, waiting for that fateful day I get to use them again!

Oh oh oh. Hell yes. I have a bbc on a rack right now I was planning to drop in my 05 GT before it got destroyed by an idiot last month. I just put a freshly polished crank in, sleeves and rings and a new set of bearings and rods, quad tunnel ram dual carb setup. It’s too much to put in the Pontiac. I was gonna make an outlaw/nt car with it. I have a soft spot for 3rd gens too. Though it’s for 87 Camaro rs white on black with t tops. It was the first car I modded. Just sold it 2 years ago. You have all the damned fixins for a fun weekend ride. That 700r with corvette brains and the shift kit, that a fucking nice piece. You willing to part with that tranny? I run wilwood brakes on discs. You know, I’m going to be keeping my eyes peeled now for ya, I know an old friend in pa, he was a 3rd gen ta collector. I could hit him up and see if he still has 20 of them laying around. Get you a good deal on a roller at least.

You can pry that tranny from my cold, dead fingers! Lmao nah I probably won't give that up I did all the work to it myself and it's the last thing I have left of my old TA. I had to sell it back in the day when I was hard up for cash, and I'm pretty sure it got parted out because the guy I sold it to was a 3rd gen collector in South Chicago suburbs that ran a 3rd gen parts store and car dealership out of his house The guy literally had hoods, doors, seats and all kinds of interior parts in his basement, and like 20 3rd gens laying around, like your guy.

I would love to get my hands on another 87 and up TA or GTA, with WS6 package and little to no rust. I know by now that's a pretty tall order as they are so few and far between thanks to "Cash for Clunkers" But I figure if I'm going to get one, might as well be a good one.
