Looks like nutrients splashed on it when you watered it, since it's the leaves closest to the soil. but it's hard to tell with the lighting.

Would have to agree liquid magnified the light and burned leaves. What the ph of runoff

Runoff ph in soil is highly unreliable. A slurry test would be more accurate. And really I doubt unless he’s done something funky that ph is an issue right now. But then again there are so many factors we don’t know that really we are throwing darts in the dark.
