problems with my lights

I got a new ballist and light kit. After about 3 days of working fine my mh light blew. I put in the hps and after about 20 min. it had blown also turning blackish silver on the ends. Does anyone know what may be causing this? I did call store he said try a new light other lights could of got damage in shipping, But he is ok with doing an exchange.

is this a digital or magnetic ballast? If digital what are brands of bulbs used and what brand ballast. On digitals, some bulbs and ballasts dont play well with each other

If magnetic, is the ballast switchable?

Sounds like something is very wrong with that light, I'd take the whole thing back. I personally use 600 hps only and grow fine herbs, I think the switchable hps/mh are just asking for problems

sounds like a ballast issue maybe. defective or not compatible like wf suggested. i wouldnt know what works with what. and ur sure ur using the right watt lamps for the ballast.
dont touch the bulbs with bare hands.
the oils on your skin can create hotspots. probably not the issue with u
