Good afternoon fellow farmers!

After a very successful first grow of Purple Punch that I harvested back in June, I've decided to give this strain a second round. Let's break it down:

Strain: Purple Punch Feminized from Seed Supreme
Grow Space: 2'x4' Indoor Grow Tent (AC Infinity Cloudlab 642)
Grow Light: AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO3 - 18" above, 18on/6off cycle
Ventilation: AC Infinity 4" Air Filtration PRO Kit w/ carbon filter
Intake: RAXIAL S4 4" Booster Duct Fan
Oscillating Fan: AC Infinity CLOUDRAY S6
Humidifier: AC Infinity CLOUDFORGE T7
Soil: Fox Farms Ocean Forest
Nutrients: Fox Farms Grow Big, Fox Farms Big Bloom, Fox Farms Tiger Bloom
Current Average Temps: 85Ā°F
Current Average Humidity: 70%

For this grow I'm just growing one plant. So far the seed selected is showing some very strong genetics. Using the good old "moist paper towel in a ziplock bag" germination method, this thing popped open in less than 24 hours. Once I planted her in soil, she broke the surface within another 24 hours.

Once she developed her third set of true leaves, I fed her approximately 1/8th tsp of Big Bloom to about a cup of water as per Fox Farms feeding schedule. However, I definitely over fed slightly and am now seeing some yellowing on the bottom set of leaves, so I'm just giving plain water for the next one or two waterings.

Overall, she has some great development going on and looks like she'll be one bushy girl! The nodes are growing nice and close with an abundance of side shoots already sprouting. Looking forward to watching her grow! I'll likely be transferring her to a 3 gallon pot in the next week or so, and plan on finishing in a 7 gallon pot like my last grow.

Kick back, relax, and enjoy her journey with me!

The bubble hash I made from the trim on my last grow was STRONG. I have no way of knowing the exact THC content, but it definitely smokes like it's between 25-30%, which is pretty common for this strain to my understanding.

After this grow I have Blue Dream, Grandaddy Purp, Northern Lights #10, and Girl Scout Cookies on deck...not sure which I want to do yet, haha. Purple Punch has been a great strain for sure!

Transplanted her into a 3 gallon pot yesterday and overnight the entire plant turned yellow. Any suggestions? I don't want to lose her as she's shown some pretty strong genetics so far.

Some things I've seen online are overwater, underwatering, and lack of nitrogen. I don't water until the top inch of soil is dry and the container is a certain weight, so I doubt it's over/underwatering. I'd be surprised at lack of nitrogen as I'm using Fox Farms Ocean Forest and had no issues with this soil on my last grow. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Ended up feeding her a small dose of Grow Big last night to see how she would react. It didn't seem to restore any color to the top leaves, but they did seem to perk up a bit, and I also noticed under the main foliage, the side shoots are abundant and still a nice shade of green. I'm wondering if the explosive side growth sucked a lot of the nitrogen from the more exposed older growth and that's why I'm getting the yellowing. I'll be keeping an eye on her over the next few days and likely feeding her a full recommended dose of Big Bloom and Grow Big on her next watering. šŸ¤ž

Have you ever experienced this before after a transplant? Hopefully itā€™s just a simple transplant shock (im not an expert). Is your environment the same as it has been?

I've had some slowed growth after transplant before, but I've not had my entire plant turn yellow overnight after a transplant. Then again this is only my second grow, and third plant I've tended to, so I myself am also not an expert lol. My environment is very stable, still maintaining a temp around 85Ā°F and 70% RH, with a VPD around 1.25

pH tests come in right about 6.5 which for my soil medium is ideal to my understanding. Hopefully after her next feeding she'll green back up a bit, but I just watered her when I transplanted her, so we still have a few days to wait until it's time to water again

we can learn on this one together!šŸ˜‚ I looked around and most of what I found was either environmental or just flat out transplant shock( which I guess could be attributed to things beyond my knowledge lol). Thats not helpful at all I know lol. Someone will chime in : ) itā€™s a great looking plant though otherwise!

She's been a beauty thus far! My wife, who grows a ton of non-cannabis related plants, also suggested it could be transplant shock. If that's the case, we should hopefully see her bounce back on her own over the next few days or so!

Awesome! Thats nice to have a second set of eyes on it! : ) definitely wouldnā€™t hurt to get a few more experienced opinions on this : ) (thats just my line of thinking) I would feel horrible if you listened to me and it was not in fact ā€œtransplant shockā€ : )

I'm open to any feedback! I'm trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can so one day I myself can be a "master grower" helping all the newbies in situations similar to my own šŸ¤“

More than likely transplant shock. Hopefully you didn't play with the roots. I either put popped seeds in there life pot or start them in a solo cup setup in the plants home pot and soil and do a fast transplant with no shock.

Current grow, Seedlings one week old yesterday. Popped seeds went right into there 5g home pots. Will never be transplanted.
1 week

Common for me if I'm interested in monitoring root growth. I put four drain holes in a clear solo cup. Soil of my choice in the pot and solo cup. Bury the solo cup in the home pot. Pop a seed and put it in the solo cup. These pics are of the plants at two weeks old, transplanted with no shock and three weeks old.

Transplant two weeks old.

Three weeks old, topped, post transplant. Never missed a beat.

When I transplant I take two fingers in the shape of a V and place them around the base of the stem, turn the solo cup/pot upside down, and gently roll my fingers around the outside of the cup/pot to loosen it and it just slides right out. From there, I place it directly in the larger transplant pot with the appropriate sized hole already dug, and then gently fill it in with soil, ensuring not to directly touch the roots. When removing it from its solo cup the other day, the root system looked phenomenal. Hopefully she bounces back quickly

She's looking a bit happier today! A bit of color has returned to most of the leaves (hard to see in the picture where she's inside the tent) and she's extra perky today, she's even sprouted a bit more. Transplant shock is looking like a strong possibility of what the issue was. Hopefully in the next few days she's fully recovered!

Today marks the fifth day since transplanting, and she seems to have recovered most of her color. I can't believe how compact the nodes are and how many side shoots I'm getting already. This is definitely going to be one bushy girl!

That's the genetics of your strain of weed. It's a indica dominant strain. So small and bushy is a genetic marker. If your light spectrum has a big blue spike in it's spectrum readout the blue is helping to capitalize on the genetics.

I use an AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO3 which has full spectrum lighting. This light has been great for me so far. This girls genetics must just be even greater than the ones from my last grow, because while my last Purple Punch grow yielded some pretty bushy plants, they weren't as bushy as this one is already. Can't wait to see what kind of yield I have coming from this plant. šŸ˜
