After doing plenty of research into the CHEAPEST way to grow just a couple of plants, I've come up with this plan. I want to know how this sounds to experienced growers...

Using cheap flourescent lighting for early growth before adding a 70w High pressure sodium floodlight (available for like £30-40!) for the flowering stage.

Would that be enough for just two plants? If I then rotate the plants through natural - flourescent - sodium, I figure I could have a rotation of 4-6 plants at any one time?

I could probably make a fan out of a couple of old discarded computer fans too.

This way, I could afford the entire set-up for well under £100. Does this sound adequate?

Also...

It looks like i've now managed to get a greenhouse for £20. Any tips on greenhouse growing in the UK? Whats the latest I can plant and are their any strains particularly well suited to it?

Sorry no one has chimed in yet. I don't know about the greenhouse or the UK (I'm in the states), but I have done 2 harvests now of very small 2-plant grows under CFL's.

Air movement is critical so definitely use those fans. My first grow was all flouros but my second was fluoro veg and 150w hps flower.

Just make sure the plants are as close to the flouros as possible. The don't burn plants like hps do and the closer they are, the better light penetration you get. Also, check out or search for a thread on LST and scrogging. I bent my plants along string woven into 2" square boxes and then when they started to flower, I let them come through the openings and the buds got the majority of the light with undergrowth blocked out.

Hope that helps a bit and hope others will chime in with even more experience.
