So I had a brilliant idea, instead of paying 20 bucks for the nice drip system cover for my 6x6 hugo blocks i thought I'd use black plastic trash bags cut into squares. It did stop my algae growth and seems to hold more moisture at top of cube but my soil temps are being driven up by the light I just increased yesterday. Definitely going to try a white material later today just throwing this out there for anyone trying to save a buck: don't put anything black on top of your cubes. I'll update with soil temps tomorrow to see if I'm correct on this one.

Yes my soil EC is low but I just irrigated, it bounces back.

Do you have a rockwool block in soil?
Also what substrate monitoring equipment are you using? Looks sleek

But yeah squares of white plastic are great, my mate used to use white plastic disposable plates 😂
