Roots looking a little brown

My hydro plants roots are starting to look brown. Iv been giving the plant 8ml of hydrogen Peroxide every 24 hours and i change its water once a week. Im just a little worried. Also if anyone has some tips on telling male from female at this stage i would apreciate it.

Instead of H2O2, try hydroguard (Amazon) and or PlusLife from

I have had very good luck on my first grow (first photo) and this one is looking very clean.

p.s. the brown tinge is from the +Life it is a super fine brown enzyme powder.

I'll havw to order some when funds are a bit better but your roots look amazing. How many gallons is the gatorade container because i was wounding if I could use somthing larger than a 5gal bucket for a much larger set of roots.

It is thee 10gal from HD. it is cheaper than the same model from Amazon or any place else. All of the work crews use them down here so HD keeps a shitload in stock. You can usually catch them on sale in the fall.

I forgot to mention that i know of at least 3 folks on the board that use them to grow in.

However, i don't use the cooler for that, i have a 45gal res from Supercloset in a 2x4 closet with 1000w of light.

Don't be. i am just lucky. I got laid off last fall from a job i had for 10 years. Part of the severance paid for the cabinet. :love1: :party1:

I had detailed plans for building one, and was amassing the materials, then manna from heaven . . . The plans looked alot like what you have put together. Congrats.

that was moving day. from the veg cabinet....

the top photo is about 3 weeks later. The bottom is harvest.

I have made some adjustments; the latest being the removing of the top watering drip stuff. then i added water connections on the side to free up the top space (and clean it up).
I also added a drip tray to catch the condensation.

Other than the tub attachments mentioned above, no changes have been made except to add another light.

Your set up looks pretty good for something cheaply thrown together. You gotta start somewhere. Plus I’ve found quite a bit of joy in upgrading and improving bit by bit and seeing how it affects the outcome. Cheers.

Agreed. Working out the process is a large part of the fun for me. Atokad28 has it going on, I am interested to see how it goes. It should do well. Not being a soil grower, i am still interested in how he handles the issues that are bound to pop up (like the rest of us). His closet seems to have everything my cabinet has. Sounds like his head is in the right place!

Plants starting to really bush out rather than grow up like my soil plant. Also I started a seedling in a little grow bucket and i guess one of the seeds i put into this pot poped up aswell. Didnt think anymore of them would.
