Hey thanks for that detailed reply very much appreciated! apologies have had a very busy week. I have done a bit of comparison of where they are at now vs lux measurement. I think by the time the cola reach maturity they will also be around 60k to 65k lux.

The way you document changes in the grow environment also makes sense. I started this way however just need to be more disciplined in putting pen to paper when changes are made.

Anyway another week gone.. the canopy level has grown about 3 inches this week.

I've started some very light defol pinching off some of the lowest leaves and bud sites every other day.
looking great

There is no need for a scrog net here you topped it soo much ita allready spread out compleatly.you can use it to hold your branches but thats not the idea of scrog
Hey thanks, things were starting to get a little crowded.. as you say lateral spread was maxxed. Took it upon myself to perform defoliation this week and we are now approaching end of week 3 of 12/12.

Safe to say this is no longer a scrog.. but to me it looks much better. Unsure due to heavy defoliation or removing the net or both 🤷‍♂️

You've done a great job training your plant and she looks healthy. Keep the screen handy in case your branches can't handle the flower weight. Are you using any silica product in your feed solution? I find it helps in strengthening the branches for those heavy colas.

If not give it a try on your next grow.

If you have a way of measuring light output at different areas of the plant, light meter app works well for this, you can measure the difference from the canopy to however deep down you want to go to get an idea of how tall you want your plant. I've found that my LED's can penetrate around 12" effectively so I try and keep my plant with no more than 12" of foliage from canopy top to the point where I stop lollipoping. This is one way I keep larf to a minimum and am able to get the most out of my lights.

Thanks dude. Yes I'm using 3ml /L silica in my nutrient mix.

I use the photone app and am reading about 600 ppfd in the canopy centre which then depletes to about 500 ppfd around the walls. I'm unsure what reading I'm getting halfway through the canopy. But I would definitely say I have less than 12 in of canopy. Probably about 7in of canopy as my plant is 1.5 ft tall and about 50% lollipop

Hey bro, great thanks! How about yours and yourself?

She is on the home stretch. Probably another 4 weeks if going by strain guide.
Dude awesome job! Well done! 🤩 so you got an idea of the pre training and now stretch! ill bet you are already wanting to get that acquired skill and apply it huh!? 😆✌️ hardest part of this game right there! knowing the changes youre going to make and then having to wait forever to make them and then see the results! hahah! its all good : ) taught me some patience (not much though) hahaha!
its really amazing the last few weeks how much the buds can swell : )

were handling it over here! : ) I’ve got the shed coming to an end (thats wishful thinking, im still out a few weeks) the outdoor is doing its outdoor thing and the veggie garden is rocking and rolling! we’re going to be able to start eating off it here real soon! : ) your name resonates with our tomatoes right now! 🤣✌️

Yeah bro, already looking forward to the next one. Definitely huge learning curve on this one... Next time I'll top less, LST earlier, Flower earlier and be more stringent in what bud sites to keep (removing larf earlier). It's mentally hard to remove potential bud sites haha but I'd like to allow for some really nicely developed colas instead of bud site quantity.

Stretch also took me by surprise.. but ill know better next time!

You have a nice little garden there mate and looks to be going really well! Well done! Looking forward to seeing some updates over the next few weeks

This is something im a few grows into and still trying to figure out for my situation : ) i was just out in the garage trimming some my plants that hermed and are early. Im thinking between strain and a good trim job one can find a happy medium. But at the same time i hear you on the buds! I think if you start heavy on the trimming out first in your growing venture you can maximaize over time the lower sites on subsequent runs. I’ve done it backwards and have slowly started moving my way up and taking more of that stuff off! all further runs are going to be getting a pretty heavy defol, but i want to make concentrates also so the littles all go to that🤷‍♂️

run with what will achieve YOUR desired end results : ) ✌️

thank you! the garden has been a work in progress, its finally starting to pay off (its a hobby and things grow a bit and we all have fun with it) someday we’ll have some land to really grow a proper garden (we dont get a lot of sun here).

One of the ways I've been able to reduce larf without having to do a lot of trimming is to train the plants low.

When I spread them out on my scrog net, I usually only leave around 6" of space between the net and the soil line. Just enough to be able to get in there if I have to but exposing the lower bud sites so that I get large enough flowers to make it worth it.

When I transplant into their final pots I'll add a FlorFlex watering plate so that when the net fills and my access is limited as far as getting water to the media I can use the watering plates as part of my irrigation system so that I don't have to mess around trying to get under the canopy to water.
