Arbico organics, carries a lot of of that stuff! A lot of information on that site also! I stick with Water! Especially in flower! I’ve even flipped plants upside down, and submerge them in a garbage can full of water! Just to see what would happen! Didn’t bother the plant! But I was just playing around there weren’t any thrips on it! It was about a 3 foot plant in flower!View attachment 2438732
I got rid of spider mite on 2 occasions doing this above.
I used citric acid and wetting agent to dunk the plants into up to the coco/pot, wetting agent or dish soap plays an important part in removing surface tension it's arguably as important as the active ingredient, you can kill adults insects effectively with a mix of water and wetting agent but it doesn't deal with eggs.

A good example of surface tension is a drop of wetting agent or dish soap into water with springtails they immediately fall through the surface, in a leaf setting water and wetting agent is highly attracted to insects it engulfs and drowns them on contact...if you're a fly fisher you'll be well familiar with surface tension.

those strips are a good product. ive hung a single yellow strip in the complete healthy tent, right in the middle over the canopy, its got about 20 thrips on it already over night and thats just the big ones that i can see on the photo. Probably more when you use a microscope. What i expected, i probably always or at least most times had/have thrips. Just that i see almost no feeding damage on the plants that are watered in the right way. Think these strips are great to keep them in check and cut down the population. The hanging strips under the light have more catches than the ones below the canopy.

Looks like they love their little digestion-flights between meals. And really like that yellow colour. Plus those stripes are not even meant for thrips, but for flies, mites and leaf-lice. Theyll keep all kind of fukkers in check. Will use them as my standard-setup from now on.

There are 10 large strips in there, but you can split each one in half so you have up to 20 smaller ones. All double side. They come with holes for hanging and also 10 metal-clamps so you can stick them into soil. i Think i paid 3,80eu for 10 pieces. Pretty reasonable, 2-3 pieces per grow should be good as long as you dont want to fight a real infestation, then you might wanna plaster the tent obviously.

yeah and there are probably small ones you cant see and its double sided^^
pretty cool thing, ill go with 2 of these over the canopy now always. That one catches much more than the lower ones on the soil, seems they love to fly around.

i just spotted this guy who is very interested in the leftovers of my fruits.... maybe 3/4 of an inch long. You think he likes thrips? Maybe i should put him in the tent....but hes probably vegetarian?

they didnt really recover so far...5 weeks into flower they look very unhappy. They basically only stretched 4 or 5 inches, after that the buds are growing so tiny, maybe 1/3 of the normal size. From below, lots of leaves are drying away, totally unnormal. Ive never seen so much leaves drying away, not even right before harvest.
The last picture is from the healthy tent where everybody is happy. They spread their leaves like little satellites to get all the light they can. Interestingley, there are way more thrips in here, at least going by the yellow gluetraps. Theyre plastered with thrips in this tent. But the plants show no sign of any stress. So i dont think they have anything to do with the decay in tent one. I have the watering in check now but it doesnt seem to make a differnece anymore.

sticky trap just help controlling a little the population you have much better biological and organic solutions for effectively getting ride of them instantly ... just a waste of money to me ...

the fact you catch so much just show they keep thriving

i know the strips dont eradicate them.
I dont think the thrips are the problem though. The white tent is proof.

The plant is dying more or less...only 6 weeks into flower, 3 more left actually. Last watering, 4 or 5 days ago, i switched from organic to usual mineral fertilizer, it was like my last shot in the dark, thinking maybe something in the soil is so messed up that it cannot brake down the nutrients, so i gave it a mineral doese with adjusted PH and it actually looked really good, at least for 2 days. They spread their little leaves upwards, meaning whats left of the leaves..looking like they enjoyed the light...but very soon they continued to disintegrate with fast pace.

I think i will try that trick again, with even a higher dose, next watering. And if the decay doesnt stop i will have to bring them down very early. Even the small sugar leaves on the buds are drying out.

Im thinking maybe its a deeper issue with the soil...i stored that soil on the balcony for a year, open. Ofc it rained countless times and the rainwater, which is basically totally empty water, like distilled water, flushed out everything and somehow messed up the PH of the soil. Im not even sure if that would bring the ph up or down. It was about 6,2, but that was when i bought it.

But then the question remains, why is the other tent doing so well. Only difference is 3 vs 5 gallon pots.

When you unpot the roots it may tell the story. One of my plants had the bottom 3 inches stay wet and died. The good plant had an almost mushroom consistancy. The bad plant was death and breakdown.

je i just brought them down, just before the brown dry reaches the flower itself. Only the very top of the highest plants yield maybe a 1-2 g dry weight bud, everything else was hopelesss popcorn buds. Maybe 15-20g dry weight all together lol. Now we know why there was almost no smell. Well at least i didnt have to refill active carbon.

It remains a mystery, the roots look like they always do, a 5 gallon solid rootball that is very difficult to disintegrate without sharp tools. Rootcolour also looks usual. Also cant be genetics, because its all cutlings and the other tent is doing marvelous.

i usually reuse the soil, or mix it 50%50 with fresh soil...i just cut of the plant and let the whole pot including the roots stay for a couple of months..the rest of the roots break down in that time and all their nutrients are available again for the new plant. But i wont use this soil again.

meanwhile things are pretty cramped in my 80x80 25 days into flower......i guess you could also call it good space management. Im just saying 45 cent/kWh....
Anybody wanna give a gues how much yield that will be?

its hard to describe how packed the traps are already...bugs are literally on each other at some spots...and there are still 5 weeks to go, looking forward to it...i dont see it as a wast of money, its satisfying to see all the stupid bugs getting trapped. There are probably way more than 100 bugs on every side of the paper already...1 trap is 32 cents, no brainer.
there are only very few leafes with very tiny white feeding stains.

Bro if those bugs are on these plants you want to address them, thrips are no joke they can leave your plants a mess left unchecked.
