Thank you for your hospitality. Can you tell me what I can try from the sativa?
Sativa is traditionally an active, up beat, social high. Some can even be racy, think active with a Sativa.

just introducing myself-been growing for a few years and been happy with my results, growing for meds. Currently have pure CBD plant coming off and am looking to pick a few brains about freeze drying. Not looking to buy a lot of equipment but since I have a 1/2 acre freezer already, close to minus 30 outside, wondering if anyone has dried outside in this weather. Humidity is always low here at these temps and our snow and ice evaporate readily, not melt. I have found information on using chest freezer and commercial freeze dry machines but nothing about using mother nature. Looking for input as I don't want to loose the product when it is a known no-no. Looking forward to some responses, thanks in advance.

Freeze dried weed in the great outdoors? The only concern I'd have is drying below the optimal RH and it turning to dust too easily.

Yeah, not really outdoors, in an unheated shop. Will be used strictly for edibles so I doubt moisture content would hurt that. Decarb really dries it.

Then letter rip and see what happens, sublimation would dry it out eventually but it could take a long time in the absence of a vacuum. Just have to be carefull not to move them around, they would be prone to losing trichs frozen like that.

I think I will try part of the product, maybe 1/3 in the big freezer and dry the rest as usual. I would hate to screw it all up. If it works I will have a huge freeze dryer for at least a few months each year. I am surprised nobody has really tried this, being the weather we have around here. Wish me luck.

Thank you very much Ms.Zombie, I'm going to try and indoor grow, now that I'm Divorced and have nobody to complain that the house smells like a skunk😄. I've grown outdoors for 20 some years now,but I've got a few terrible "Varmints" aka my neighbors kids who have successfully taken my dummy plants for about 10 years straight, the others I grew in another field a few miles away. I've been growing since the days of bags full of seeds! I actually grew some 10- 12 yr old skunk from ancient seeds that I thought were no good, but I still get at least one nice plant every year,so the bags of seeds were not a huge waste like I had thought for so long. I'm looking forward to getting to know some more good old stoners and their indoor tricks! I hope you have a great day, mine is just beginning, I'm an Easter Coaster from Maryland Pennsylvania West Virginia lines!

I just continue to screw up all of my posts. Too funny! I will have to get my 7 year old daughter to teach me. She is the person that has tried to educate me on modern technology. Is that sad or what?
That goes for all us old heads! Unfortunately we were not born in the age of "Easy Everything!" We had to do it the hard way,ie by writing out our math problems and reading a regular clock 😅 Clock hands??? Mom,how can a clock have hands???. But I assure you that you are not to burnt out to learn the new technology, its not that hard, you'll get it!

Just an update, the outdoor freeze drying worked. Forgot about it for a bit, when checked yesterday it was quite dry. Now in jar and showing 54% RH after 1 day. Smell is unreal. Since I don't smoke it, can not give an opinion on taste, but will try it soon in edibles. Current temps outside -32 C or aprox -26F. We did have a couple of days close to melting, but I just left it out anyway. Nice to have it out of the house for drying.

Hello,

I actually put my plants outside in freezing temps before I cut them up if its cold outside. Reason? Because the sugar leaves can just be pulled right off without it pulling bud apart. You dont even have to cut the leaves out of the buds (some people dont cut them out anyway but dont realize that makes it more harsh and if you remove all leaf there is way better flavor and way less harsh smoke). You just pull at least two of the three or so leaves coming out of the bud and for some reason when its cold from freezing for about 2 hours it just pulls out easy. Also the added benefit of cutting in cold temps means less stickiness and less on your hands. Unless you use gloves, which I do not. I can do an entire plant... then I have straight goo all over my fingers. clear goo. I scrape it off and end up with a huge ball of gooey trichs.
If its not cold outside.... my basement for some reason is like 64 degrees with the heat running at 68 up stairs. But if I shut the vents its down to 62. If I seal the vent so no heat can come out it will reach 51 degrees in the basement so I clip there. Where ever its cold. That is where I cut because its less sticky.

I am new here. I am on 420 magazine and this is my second forum I joined on growing. I learned a lot from 420 and my own researching. I am certainly not the best but all my friends think I am. They're just wrong. lol
